The FSU Seminoles are looking to make a statement in the 2025 college football season and they will have a chance to make a big one in their Week 1 matchup against the Alabama Crimson Tide. It is one of the most exciting matchups of the season and will be the first time the two teams played since 2017, a game Alabama won 24-7.

The Seminole will be looking for their first-ever win over the Crimson Tide and Cody Nagel of 247Sports believes it one of the most anticipated non-conference games of the season, ranking it 8th. Here is what he had to say about the game.

Alabama last began a season with a true road game in 2020, diving straight into SEC play during the shortened schedule. The Crimson Tide will leave Tuscaloosa to kick off the 2025 campaign with a trip to Florida State, a program aiming for a strong rebound after a disappointing season. The two teams last faced off in the 2017 season opener, where Alabama secured a 24-7 victory in Atlanta. Though two years have passed since the controversial decision, there is still a hint of revenge in play for the Seminoles and head coach Mike Norvell after being snubbed by the College Football Playoff selection committee in favor of Alabama in 2023.

FSU head coach Mike Norvell is 2-3 in FSU's season openers since coming to Tallahassee. He is 1-0 against SEC teams, beating the LSU Tigers 45-24 back in 2023.

Adding to FSU's excitement, it will also be the first game since the completion of the extensive renovations to Doak Campbell Stadium. The game will take place on Saturday, Aug. 30, a start time and channel assignment have not been announced.

Here's something the portal has changed: talking about the fall games before spring camp is over. Who the heck knows what the roster will look like in August?

That said, here's my point on this article which I believe will hold true in the fall. FSU doesn't have a QB. FSU doesn't have a coach on their staff who can develop a QB.

Seriously, the best QB the FSU OC has coached didn't come into his own until he transferred to Oregon: Bo Nix. Stidham was okay. Jordan Travis?

FSU brought in Castelloanos (sp) from BC to join Malzahn. Unless you have some insatiable need to scroll to the bottom of a list, don't bother looking him up in last years stats (QBR, etc.)

Care to tell me how Gus can now coach a QB? I know, you'll think of a running threat and I'm wondering if the guy is 200 soaking wet. I wonder if he actually stands 5ā€² 9ā€³?
