Bama wins 6-3. It was a bit of an ugly game for Bama on a couple of levels... first off, the Tide left way too many guys on base (13) and were just 2 for 13 with RISP (including hitting into a couple of inning ending DP's). On the mound, Blackwood started and went 3 2/3 and pitched well overall. The problems started when Robertson and then Moza relieved him... they combined to throw for 1 inning, 2 walks, 3 WP's, and gave up 2 runs (Moza had a throwing error too). UAB made the most out of their opportunities, which isn't surprising given that they are really well coached... and they played their ass off (including some really good defensive plays). With the game tied 3-3 in the 9th, UAB brought in their closer, but Alabama didn't flinch, they turned on the power... Torres hit a solo shot to center and then Hodo followed 2 batters later with a 2 run blast to RF to make it 6-3. Ozmer closed out the 9th for his 4th save of the season...

Up next for Alabama: SEC series opener at Texas A&M starting on Friday.

Also, the ESPN+ coverage SUCKED tonight. No sound for much of the game, missing parts of innings because of "technical difficulties", etc. A little league operation....

Torres and Snell both connected on home runs to break the tie in the final inning

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –
In a 3-3 game entering the ninth, Jason Torres broke the tie with a go-ahead solo home run before Kade Snell followed his lead with a two-run blast later in the inning, guiding No. 17 Alabama baseball to a thrilling 6-3 win over UAB at Regions Field. The win improves the Crimson Tide to 17-1 in 2025.

Snell and Torres both finished 2-for-5 on the evening, closing as two of the four men in the Tide lineup to manage multiple hits. Bryce Fowler contributed a 3-for-5 line, slugging a solo home run to go with an RBI base-hit. Will Plattner was 3-for-5 as well with a run scored, while Coleman Mizell's lone hit resulted in an RBI single.

JT Blackwood made his fourth start of the spring, as the right-hander offered a solid showing in the midweek effort. The junior allowed just one hit and one walk over his 3.2 innings, picking up three strikeouts. After UAB leveled the score in the sixth, Aeden Finateri entered the game and did well to keep the Blazers at bay. Finateri pitched 2.0 scoreless frames, scattering two hits to go with two strikeouts. Beau Bryans (1-0) recorded the final out of the eighth and picked up the win after the Tide scored three runs in the next half inning. Carson Ozmer secured his fifth save of the spring in a scoreless ninth, adding a strikeout.

From Head Coach Rob Vaughn

"What a great game for the state of Alabama. Two really good teams competing on a great night in Birmingham. I was really proud of the grit and toughness we showed tonight. We were great offensively and just couldn't cash in with guys in scoring position, but we got it done late. JT Blackwood gave us a great start and the 'pen did an outstanding job. I'm proud of our guys and the toughness they showed tonight. I'm excited to head to Aggieland to start SEC play."

Got to be able to generate more runs and capitalize when guys are on base. 15 hits and only 6 runs. That said, UAB made some good plays fielding wise. Alabama did also.

Time to see how they do against a struggling Aggie squad.

Can rinse and repeat this comment for the rest of time when it comes to baseball. It's a game of failure, so capturing success every time we want it is impossible. Not saying you are wrong, but the response will never ever be enough when it comes to baseball.
