šŸ“ The Portal Watch 2020-2021: Florida's Emory Jones announces intent to enter the transfer portal

I've been chewing on this since you posted. It was one of those, "let me think about this for a minute."

I believe you're wrong here. The more I consider what he's bringing and, specifically, to this offense.
I hope I am wrong. I just happen to think the talent we have supersedes his. We may not have that speed with Brooks and Hall, but we got it in other places. We'll see. I hope he shows out and gets some good draft tape. I'll be cheering for him.

I agree. I think with this QB and this Offense he could be something more than we have seen him be to date. However, to be fair, anytime we can poke a stick in the eye of uGA fans I'm happy... so maybe I'm a bit bias.

I was DEAD wrong in a lot of ways on Williams... so I'm more than willing to accept the coaches see something he could bring to the table that we as fans may not see.

Not in the portal, but appears to be gone

Come on kids show some grit and stick to it. If he will do that he can become a very wealthy man. Believe in the process, the work and stop taking the easier path. This is more general statement with my entire view of the portal. There may be something in his situation that is different so do not want to paint a wide brush but the portal in general leads to short term emotionally driven decisions. Honestly the people that are going to grind it out are the ones you want in your program.

I don't see him bringing these players for depth. Now that might happen if their ability isn't as good as we hope.

Looking back over the years, when Saban used JUCO players quite a bit. When has Saban missed on a player? He can evaluate talent like no other, and when the kid has played college ball, it almost is a shoe-in that they will start if Saban is willing to burn a scholly on a player. Transfer portal is the new JUCO route. When CNS sees you against D1 competition.........safe bet, they will fit the need they are being recruited for, and immediately.

Oh he has missed plenty on JUCO players.

On fence: Khyree Jackson He has to win the starting CB spot this fall....

Yeah I am assuming they can drop a level where they will get to play but it will be the wakeup call to make sure they get their degree.
Case in point:
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Few schools with the exception of Jackson State cleaned up during the early signing period more than Alabama A&M.
Connell Maynor and the Bulldogs worked the transfer portal to acquire nine ex-FBS players, including several four-star athletes.
The bulk of the acquisitions — eight in total — were on the defensive side of the football led by former four-star Florida State defensive back Carlos Becker III. He was joined by one-time Big 10 cornerback Marquez Beason, another four-star recruit and three-star Marshall defensive back Charles Bell IV.

AAMU under Connell Maynor has been pretty good about getting players from D1. There are ton of kids each year, that choose to sign with major school instead of giving smaller school such as UNA, AAMU, Jackson, Jacksonville State, USA, UAB, etc... (I'm just throwing the names as an example). Those kids think going to Alabama and has enough talents to beat out other players... usually after a year or 2, they realize it's never going to happen, so they enter the transfer portal, and doesn't get attention, so they drop down a level and boom, AAMU, Jackson get to eat.

Some kids need harsh wake up call: if you go from scholarship at D1 to walk on at AAMU, then you simply either messed up or you aren't that good.
