🏈 The Coaching Carousel : UT promotes Kelsey Pope to WR coach

There's absolutely no way that Harsin could have seen this coming. It would be one thing for Davis to leave for another job, but a young, up-and-coming coach bailing on a coordinator job in the SEC just a few weeks after starting the gig? This signals that Harsin's program is in more turmoil than it has been in since the days of Jet-Gate, when officials tried to hire Bobby Petrino in the dead of night despite the fact that Tommy Tuberville was still employed and preparing his team for the Iron Bowl.
This comes just two weeks after defensive coordinator Derek Mason left his post to take the same role at Oklahoma State. Mike Gundy has built a great program in Stillwater, but that can be considered a lateral move, at best, for a veteran coach who had spent eight straight seasons in the SEC.

Simply put, Auburn isn't a destination program anymore.

That has to sting. I know Sallee is a Georgia lover, but he ain't lying either.

Something is going on down there, and it ain't good

The bigger mystery is why would an AD, Allan Greene, that has been trying to get out of Auburn the past 2 years give the farm (barn) away to the BB coach. Just sounds a little fishy on Greene's part. It was known Louisville, after firing their BB coach last week, was targeting Pearl. That would be 1 reason for the quick "life time" contract. It would be interesting to know the real buyout on that Pearl contract.

That's what they do. They did the same with Malzahn a few years ago because he was rumored to be a target of Arkansas. It cost them in the end when they had to pay a massive exit fee instead of paying out the life of the contract.

You know what the weirdest thing is?

Auburn is so askew that it’s tough for me, someone who has been chronicling AU for 24 years now, to understand who is on which side. Or even what the sides are. Everyone is angry and plotting. I’ve never seen this before

Gosh...Tennessee dumpster fire
.............Auburn dumpster fire......

Who ever thought being a Bama fan couldbe more fun

I also saw this ( the Pendry thing) on some other site - maybe AL.com

I think Terry was trying to say come from where? Joe is in front office role within Alabama program.

The Austin Davis stuff is not a great situation for Harsin because it's just another notch in a long line of negative loses on and off the field for him in recent months... but overall I think it's being a tad bit overblown (especially by auburn fans). Maybe he is a wonderkid and the next Sean McVay... but he was hired to be a glorified QB coach whose resume basically consisted of the line, I played QB once and watched film with Russell Wilson. If Harsin is to be believed, he will be calling the plays himself, he is the real offensive coordinator. Even with his limited contacts and his Malzahn-like preference to only hire within his (tiny) circle of trust, it will be hard not to at least break even... especially if he just ends up promoting Kiesau. Not to say Harsin doesn't have a problem on his hands, he does... but this seems like their fans are fussing about the chicken being overcooked when the kitchen is on fire.
