I heard a Texas fan on a Ute board say "people are stupid to pick Bama in a blowout, because Texas has never lost to Alabama." I guess I missed the part where Darrell Royal is returning as the head coach

He also said it's ironic that after last year, Utah fans are giving Texas no shot against Alabama. Like that has anything to do with this season.

I think Mack Brown is a great coach who runs a fine program. I also think Colt McCoy is the best QB in the nation. But I'm drawing on the UT hate from my OU and TAMU acquaintances...

i've thought mccoy would win the heisman before the 1st game anybody played this year. just thought it was his year, after tebow and bradford won it. mccoy is a great quarterback, i think jordan shipley is awesome, but they simply have no running game.

hook em, my ass. suh ate em up with 9 sacks and mccoy threw 3 int's. but everyone has an off game. we should look at their NEB tape, and them look at our Auburn tape

We can also look at the Colorado (they were down 14-10 at halftime and needed a blocked punt return, an INT return, and a punt return for 21 of their 38 points) and Oklahoma tapes (127 passing yards, 4 sacks, 1 INT) for the t-sips.

Bama's Offense is better and playing hotter than Nebraska's. Florida's Defense is better that Texas'. Nebraska banks 12 pts, Bama backs 32.

In the past 26 game - 26!- Bama's Defense has been beaten by the Florida Gators with the most unique QB in the history of the game. McCoy is not Tebow. And Bama showed then they can stop that too. Also, Bama's defense was beat by a Utah side that finished as one of the two hottest teams in the country last year (with Ole Miss). And Texas ain't playing hot right now.

Texas, in the last 26 games, lost to Texas Tech, needed a last second field goal to beat Nebraska, and let Ohio State play them close in their Bowl (OHIO STATE playing anyone close in a bowl?!?)

Granted, Texas ain't North Texas, but its been since mid season since I have seen anything shown on the field that points toward the Longhorns winning.

ā€˜Consider: In his three games against top-40 pass defenses this season (<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:State w:st="on">Colorado</st1:State>, <st1:State w:st="on">Oklahoma</st1:State> and <st1:State w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Nebraska</st1:place></st1:State>), McCoy has thrown for an average of 192 yards, with no touchdowns and five interceptions. (Overall: 270.2 yards, 27 TDs, 12 INTs). <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:State w:st="on">Alabama</st1:State></st1:place>'s pass defense ranks seventh nationally.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

As I always do, let me interject some levity here: We hung on by a thread against a TEnnessee team that got shelled by Ole Miss and nearly lost to Kentucky (not to mention losing to UCLA who was horrendous). We were smacked in the mouth by Auburn, though we handled them for the other 3 quarters.

But, I say all that illustrating that teams can have low days. But the best teams still win, and win we did. The reasons we will beat the Horns are not shown by looking at how they did against Nebraska, texas A&M, or Helen Keller's School of Deaf, Blind, Mutes: the reasons we will win are we are more complete, more diverse, and MORE TALENTED.

I might be the first person you hear that mentions the talent thing, but it's true. If McCoy can't get the ball to Shipley, we could win BIG again.

Texas has had it's struggles in the regular season, and so has Alabama. Neither fan-base will be able to use that one with much credibility. What we have here are two football teams that have both found ways to win all of their games and make it to the title game. There's going to be a lot of talk from both sides in regards to advantages, but most of that will be thrown out the door by game time.

Should be a good show.

p.s. We're aware of our non-existence run game. Something our staff will need to work on.

It's all in good fun. I'm expecting a tight game. Mack Brown is a great coach, and he'll have your guys ready to play.

Welcome to the board.

Yes, we had difficulties against TN, but that was our 8th game straight without an off week. Just as Nebraska was the Horn's 9th game straight without a break.
Yes, we struggled in the first half against Auburn, but they had two weeks to prepare for us where we only had 5 days to prepare for them. Of course we spend 3 of those days preparing for Florida....

Regardless of what some think of TX, they wouldn't be 13-0 if they didn't have a good team. I think it's going to be a great game.
I predict that the team that comes into the game best prepared, both physically and mentally, will take that crystal football home with them. And the team that enters the game with a big head and underestimates their opponent is going to have their rears handed to them on the field.

Thanks! As a big fan of football tradition, I've been hoping for a match-up with Bama for a long time. It's going to be a long month. I suspect that it might get a little bumpy around here at times, but I completely agree, it's all in good fun.

I think they will have a better running game after a month of working and tweaking it. With McCoy they don't need much of a running game to open up the passing game.

I am so glad y'all pulled it out; Bama Vs. Texas for the championship sure has a nicer ring to it than Bama vs. TCU or Bama vs. Cincy. I've always been a huge Bama fan and your 05' victory over USC made me a horns fan too.

I think Texas is a great team, but if they don't figure out a running game we'll win BIG. Stats to me are overrated because Florida according to stats was better than us in every phase of the game, but we whipped them dang good. McCoy is everything he is advertised to be, but without a running game McCoy and company will get hammered.

Mack Brown is a good RECRUITER. Will Muschamp and the other assistants Mack has had since he's been at Texas are great coaches. Mack's coaching ability is one of the most overrated things in college football. He brings in the talent, his assistance get the most out of it.
