🏈 Let's Talk about Ty Simpson

I just watched the whole video and Let me tell you this: throughout the film review, we had bunch of guys that was wide open at times and He instead choose to throw the ball into tight window. That tells me Grubb offense always have someone open all the time.
The guy knows his stuff. "Sunday throws", I like that term. Simpson's recognition was superb. Now, maybe someone gets inside the keys he's using to do this, and they bait him later in the season (think Clemson and Tua), but I think Simpson is more like Bryce and Jones than Tua in that he's great at quickly reading the D and getting through his progressions, while Tua is, in my view, more instinctive.

Simpson was throwing darts for sure. Kriby mentioned Simpsons knowledge of pass blocking and where the pressure would be coming from so he got the ball out early when he knew there were #s issues (unblocked pass rushers). This bodes well for continued success. I also thought Grub called a great game. Just wish we would have had more success in the 2nd half. By succes I mean scored some points.
If our possessions ended with a kick, we were successful. They wanted to win the game too and have as many talented, hungry players as we do.

All said n done ...it was fabulous...
I rewatched yesterday....l

The UGA receiver that dropped pass that would have been td was massive....we dropped one too but still scored on possession... kirby not kicking fg to tie...on fourth n 1..... but the way they were running the ball i would not have either...

Ty was awesome....he did have multiple receivers open a lot too

For me, the most disappointing drive was at the end of the third: a three and out. :22 seconds off the clock? Yeah, they kicked but that wasn't successful, ya know?

But. I think I was more surprised by the three INC's in a row than the three and out. But hey, he spread it around missing Germie, Rico, and Ryan in that series.

(BTW, while Bama didn't score in the second half they still carried the advantage with the number of offensive plays they ran. I think the difference was eight: essentially, another offensive drive.)

that looked to be crucial....but.......

We hadn't seen anything consistent from their offense at that point: not in back to back drives. They had a quick three and out just prior to Bama's.

If you recall, the scoring drive had a busted assignment and a personal foul account for 70 percent of the yards gained. That was the series where the PF on LT put them in the RZ.

I watched vandy game. Some.
They looked to have more of offensive game than uga. .dont have power runners or as good oline. But Pavia is a world beater..imo

The crowd Saturday should be electric

That was weird sequence. The one after cash play, I was not happy on the play were Alabama got the ball. They were moving the ball and a false start threw them off balance and they never recovered.

You can't really take anything away from that game for real. The offense had their ways with a team who probably would lose to Alabama A&M.

If there's one thing to notice, it's the Vandy's defense. They were not great and hasn't been great all season long. My prediction... I can see TY throwing for over 350 yards against their defense.

VAndy will get their points on board but the thing is can they keep up? Can they score three straight drives to keep up ?

I think and .....hope....thats exactly right...

But theyhave good schemes....good receivers...and Pavia

Be a fun game for sure...

I posteed this question in the game day thread, but I'll ask again. Everything posted here about Simpson, maybe even his eye color, shows how huge of a player he's been for Bama this year. Do you think he's now a serious candidate in the Heisman race?

If Bama keeps winning and he keeps playing well and improving, then yes, absolutely. Long way to go though…

@Brandon Van de Graaff, I know what you two mean, and I agree. But considering the way the media starts hyping players up, do you think Simpson deserves that kind of hype? You both said yes; I agree. :)

Up to this point, with his numbers... yes, only 4 games in, but 2 on the road against top 20 teams.... he absolutely deserves the mentions. And, on top of it all, he's trending in the right direction. After that reply from earlier, I looked at some odds, and he's mostly sitting 2nd (behind Dante Moore) or 3rd right now... obviously helped by the fact the guys like Manning, Nussmeier, and other preseason favorites have stubbled out of the blocks...
