Alabama fans have heard the joke before. They're just hearing it from a new place.

On Thursday, Texas A&M athletic director Eric Hyman was speaking to the Brazos County A&M Club Coach's Night.

According to the San Antonio Express-News, he started with, "What do the moon and Texas A&M have in common? They both control the Tide."

Like I said not new material, but another light playful jab in an offseason full of them.

The Aggies went on the road and defeated Alabama 29-24 in November, the only blemish on the schedule en route to a national championship.

According to the report, Hyman then told coach Kevin Sumlin he "wants to be able to say the same thing" in a year.

"No pressure, Eric. Thank you," said a light-hearted Sumlin.

Then Twitter got a hold of it and that's where the fun started.

Take a look.

Paul Finebaum tweeted, "Nick is going to be mad!"

A&M president R. Bowen Loftin
- who according to the report - was in attendance at the event and tweeted: "Paul, he is already mad."

I always just find it funny when stuff like this comes from the AD. I remember the pep rally before the Capital One Bowl, just hearing the MSU AD saying "We're going to roll the Tide" and all the Spartan fans go nuts, started talking trash to me and my family.......Ah good times...

I got no problems with it. Not my style necessarily (if I was an AD), but it's stuff like this that makes the SEC so much fun.

Nothing wrong with riling up the masses and fan base. I'm sure Coach Saban does it for our folks as well. I would also like to add that I like Kevin Sumlin. He's got great character, holds himself very well, and seems to have a great football mind. You can definitely appreciate what he's doing in College Station. I am ready to tighten the screws on the Aggies though. Ole Johnny Football will be brought back down to earth this Fall, because I can promise you Kirby Smart and Nick Saban will refuse to let him run around this year and he'll appear to be mortal again.
