šŸˆ Tennessee is hiring UCF’s Josh Heupel as its next head football coach,

Several years back when Ole Miss was going through the sanctions from Freeze, I remember Cole Cublic saying the same thing about Ole Miss. Said the prestige of coaching a team in the SEC is enough of a draw for so many guys, they will tackle the toughest of uphill battles. If he said that about OM......I have no doubt the same applies for UT, simply based on the fact that they have a better history/tradition than Ole Miss.
...and Lane's looking for the first train out of Oxford.

Ya know, we had the same attitude a few years ago when we saw guys like Leavitt turn down the Bama job. I think there was, and still is, a little hyperbole in Cole's comment

Clemson countered the UT interest with a raise for Elliot.

"I'd rather remain as an offensive coordinator than take the head job at UT?" Doesn't sound right, does it?

I'm thinking TE is eyeing the end of the '21 season and the rumored opening happening next season.

Well no one else would take it so let me hire/drag my previous head coaching hire from the school I came from. Now either White has a long runway in case he crashes (probably gets a pass on the first one) or he believes this guy can do it. Since Heupel was not the first call White made I will assume it is not the latter. Needed someone quick to say yes to limit the optics of no one wants the job.

But you would have too, wear that school color!
My first coaching/teaching job was at Fultondale HS just North of Birmingham in Jefferson County. Their colors were orange and blue!! I had to remind myself that "it pays the bills" as I put on those horrid colors!!! When I became the HC in baseball that next Spring, I immediately changed our uniforms and went with the Chicago White Sox theme, Pinstripes at home and Navy top on the road!! No orange AT ALL!!!

From a Reddit thread about the hire
Heupel’s buyout is nearly $3.45 million, which is 50% of his remaining guaranteed contract. Considering that Tennessee paid an estimated $2.5 million buyout for White’s buyout, that means that UCF will have nearly $6 million via these transactions to help with its AD and coach searches.
