🏈 Tennessee hate week has begun!

Literally my license plate. I hate UT all year

So when did the cigar smoking start? I just noticed it during McCarron'S senior year I believe.
The tradition started in the 1950s when Jim Goostree, the head trainer for Alabama, handed them out to players after beating Tennessee. The Vols smoked them as well, after victories, but both sides kept it a secret until 2005. It was at that point that the Tide voluntarily reported the small violation.

However, coach Nick Saban doesn’t smoke – and he isn’t making any exceptions after the win.

Head trainer Jim Goosetree began the tradition in the 1950s and kept it silent due to the extra benefit violation, until 2005 at which point the "extra benefit" began being disclosed voluntarily and with pride to the NCAA.
