🏈 Team Update 3 August, 2015.

For all of this talk about Barnett being too frail to last. AJ was about the same size when he took over in '11. If Barnett is the real deal and is the best choice and most consistent, we all know that CNS will trot him out there come the opener. The problem with these scrimmages, they will be closed and we will likely get no statistical info on the QBs as well. I will be in Dallas come the opener, so I will find out then like the rest of us, source or not.

Retrospect. 20/20 hindsight. Etc.

All the praise Coker got from Jimbo about him being neck and neck with J Winston can be put in perspective.

Who do you see pointing out that JW threw 28 INT's over the last two seasons? He wasn't making good decisions in games which tells me he probably wasn't in practice as well.

What does it say about one QB, when compared to another who is tossing that many to the wrong color jersey?

LSU 2014 showed up Blake could step up when needed. (We saw the other side of that as well.) It's that one game, or two, we the Tide needs that type of performance that makes me pause.

A bit taller, and from what I've been told 12-15lbs heavier than AJ at the same age.
 
It seems like we aren't talking as much as maybe we should be about Barnett's ability to scramble and the fact he has a lot more speed than AJ ever had. Were he to win the starting job, that should help him avoid someone teeing off on him in the pocket.
 
I will weigh in on the "skinny Blake Barnett" subject.

Some of y'all make it sound like he looks like Thomas Darrah or something. Maybe he is suffering in comparison to Blake Sims or Alec Morris who are both stocky built but "skinny" isn't the first or second adjective that comes to mind when I see him.

He looks like a well built QB to me. 2 plays stick out to me from BB in spring game. The tuck it and run scramble he had in the early 1st half and obviously that beautiful pass at the end. He had some mistakes, yes but mistakes are coachable. Both those plays showed his true ability and potential.

I saw Rick Karle was on the tube last night saying there wasn't anything to the story. I didn't "see" it, but it was mentioned to me in a text I received this morning when I turned my phone back on ...

That carries as much credibility as Tate saying "I'm not a mouthpiece, or fan boy..."

It's two completely different stories/scenario's but it eerily reminds me of DJ in his last season in Tuscaloosa. (Hall, not Fluker.)

The only reason I knew anything about it, is my childhood friend is an Auburn Punter who attended practice. Funny you mention DJ Hall, we played Peewee ball together on the Seminoles, Jet Stadium FWB FL.
 
I just don't see Saban handing over the keys to a freshman QB to start Game 1... I'm not against it, just watching how Saban operates I think his ass hole is too puckered up for that.

I think Coker gets the first opportunity barring a meltdown in scrimmages... From there it could go to Cornwell/Barnett

As far as Minkah Fitz... HELL YES. If Tony Brown can't keep his head on straight, let this other dude show him how it's done. Fitz looks like an NFL strong safety in some of those pictures... Got Dayum
 
I don't think Barnett being a freshman will hold Saban back from staring him, if the others are that bad. It baffles my mind how they could all be so shitty. I mean every last one of them came in with higher ratings than JPW and GMAC and other than Julio these guys we have now have way more talent to throw to.

This entire thing makes my stomach hurt.
