| FTBL Take a look at this...

Sometimes the only thing that the media has to do is to suck all of the joy out of life. There will never be a rivalry game where both teams are super good every year. That goes for college, pros, football, baseball, hockey, soccer, whatever. You never hear them talk like this until we are the team that's on top.

As recently as 2005 both teams were in the top 10. Strange that he didn't put that legendary Ohio State/Michigan game in there. All the rivalries in the Big 10 are over rated because the entire league stinks.

i gotta say I kind of agree, I said this earlier in the year. Unless your a fan of alabama or auburn,it just doesnt matter to people. I said that the florida ,georgia game was a bigger rivalry. however you guys have some bisuness to take care and I hope you do. My little brother goes to Auburn and I hope his sat is ruined.

My point is this...I dont expect someone in Wisconsin to understand what this game means to us here...they could not possibly begin to fathom the significance of this game to the fans of Bama and Auburn. I dont care what happens with Michigan and Ohio St. but I dont trash the rivalry just because its not important to me...I know its important to their fans and players. This just seems to be more anti-bama media...anything to downplay our team...the same ole.....well they won..but is Auburn.

"Alabama

The Tide should beat Auburn, right? Kind of like Notre Dame should have beaten Syracuse. Is it 0-2 or 1-1 for Saban? Does it really matter when they get the Gators in the SEC championship game, only prolonging the Tide's eventual destiny -- the Sugar Bowl? -- Lisa Horne"

We should change our name to the Alabama Rodney Dangerfields.....

More tripe from the media what do you think they are going to do pull for Bama? They also said we would not be in this position to win it all in the pre-season and they have diminished all of the games we have won! RTR! 11-0 and the only undefeated BCS team oh did I mention were #1 :D :D

I think what this writer fails to grasp is the fact a Rivalry isn't built around records or rankings. IT about relationships(bad ones), history, and classic games.

They are barking up the wrong tree here.

Thank you! Try living with a rival. Trust me there is nothing overrated about this one. :)

Well, one rivalry that has went to hell is the Alabama/Tennessee 3rd Saturday in October.

Tennessee is now a lower-tier SEC team and there is no relief for them in sight.

For me and for many people I know, the 3rd Saturday is a joke now, not even looked forward to.

Far from being interesting for the rest of the nation, this game isn't even interesting to many 'Bama fans any longer.

Speak for yourself, I on the other hand, love beating the VOLS every chance we get! :D

You know whats funny about this? 10 years ago, they were saying the exact same thing but it was the other way around. This has always been a streaky rivalry until the past few years. UT will be back. I hope they will anyway. That makes beating them MUCH more fun.

And, well, you know, we might need that strength of schedule boost one day

No rivalry appeals to everyone or even a majority. To call any rivalry overrated is crazy. Its rivalry to those involved. I appreciate the history of every rivalry. To call it meaningless or bad because both teams arent ranked makes no sense.

Since I am from Alabama I have always considered the Iron Bowl the best, and of course the 3rd Sat in Oct the 2nd best. But when I was in the Army deployed to Somalia our Sergeant Major brought in a big screen, got us some O'Douls  (dang war zone), and we watched the game as a unit. I never understood the rivalry until that day. And in 1996 I trained with the Cadets at West Point. They have "Beat Navy" everywhere, and it is said alot. I know gte it, it dates back to bar fights in Europe in WW2 and even before. Brothers in Arms but enemies on the football field. Its due to respect. Now I get why some consider it the best rivalry.

My point is maybe these writers should submerse themselves in a little history and enjoy the games rather than putting any of them down.
