🏈 T.J. Simmons leaving the Tide

Did not see that article... I had Bama at 88 before Shawn Jennings and after he, OJ and TJ it would be 85. (not counting the Blue Shirts or the GS)... but I could be not counting someone.

TideSports Elligibility Listing (see other topic) shows a total of 86 however, it contains Raheem Falkins* graduated in Dec 16 and was listed as transferring out 3/1/17
https://www.seccountry.com/alabama/raheem-falkins-transfer

this would bring the total to 85

Alabama wide receiver T.J. Simmons headed to another school | TideSports.com

Here's a pretty solid numbers breakdown:

Why annoyed, Bird?

Either as some speculated he didn't have the grades or, more likely, he saw the writing on the wall. If he stays he's got experience for 2018 over the others (vs having to sit out a year before playing at WVU), so he was either being very selfish in terms of fear over lack of touches with so much competition (I tend to think NOT) or he realized that this year he'd be behind Foster and Ridley, maybe Sims, and NEXT year he'd be behind Jeudy, Smith, Ruggs et al (much more likely). This has been VERY quiet and he already has his landing spot, so maybe (conjecture here) he went to Saban and told the coach that he doesn't want to look over his shoulder and he's already found a landing spot, and Saban gave his blessing? End of story, and we wish him the best and move on. I don't think this hurts US, and I hope he'll do well.

Annoyed because it's losing a good player and it just seems like this stuff happens more and more every year.

Yep... they are still listing Raheem Falkins* graduated in Dec 16 and was listed as transferring out 3/1/17

the real number is 85. TideSports a little behind, but I guess many don't read Seccountry or Al.com?

Maybe the caliber of player leaving is causing more notoriety for us and others than what we are accustomed to? Barnett, Sheffield, Bell, Simmons, Mo Smith, etc, are leaving with a lot more on their mind than an FCS school. Lots of good football teams are licking their chops and more will naturally be written about them.

In the 2012 natty game with LSU, we were throwing the ball to Maze, Hanks, Norwood, and Smelly and Williams at the H and TE position. And it was our air attack that made the difference. This year's starters playing for the Tide wouldn't just set most of those guys down but represent the best at the position college football can offer.
