from what i've seen in person, Darrah has a stronger arm than any of the QBs on our roster.

I'm curious.

In what settings have you had the chance to get a good look at Star?

So what was Sabans reasoning for switching Randle and Russel back and forth? Im not questioning the move because obviously he made it work but did they add Randle in there for more of a runnning threat? I know Russell was obviously the better thrower.

Marcus was a pretty good passer in his own right. In fact, when I mentioned earlier that they were close in terms of their numbers in '04 I didn't mention that Randle had better numbers in their passing game. In fact, better numbers in their running attack as well. Marcus, in my opinion, had a better ability to turn a "sack situation" into a positive gain.

I'm sure, at least this is the way I see it, that playing 2-3 QB's a game is Saban's way of getting the back-ups snaps so they won't be as inexperienced as they might be without those.

In terms of our team, it's been the staff's intent to get Greg more "live action" snaps this season. It just hasn't worked out that way.

Of course, you have to take that last paragraph in context with it was Saban's last year in BR so the offensive system was firmly in place...that, versus, our situation.

his reels from high school which were only one year ago actually showed his arm to be his weak point. not much velocity on the ball. seemed fairly accurate, but then again those are the highlights. also just in the clips of practice on tidesports which do show that his arm strength has improved since being at Alabama... But i don't think he has the zip on the ball that Darrah does.

i didn't intend to push anyone's buttons by the post. just an observation. by no means does arm strength/velocity make or break a QB. we've had QBs here who had great arm strength and couldn't hit the broad side of a barn most of the time on long passes.. not going to name names or anything.

Darrah just really impressed me at A-Day. I guess that impression has stuck.

You saw him in person but only on a highlight reel? That is not in person. I guess you haven't heard any of his reports from his practices at BAMA. His arm is the strongest of all the QB's per the coaching staff.

Fact is Darrah won't see the field unless a rash of injuries occured. I also don't expect to see Star play much next season, unless we see him in a role much like Tebow in 06' and Pryor earlier this season. I say we rally behind McElroy now and start it off right. I'm in the middle of building the bandwagon if anyone wants to help. :D
