💬 "Split Households." It just dawned on me. Coach Stallings finds himself in an unusual situation this weekend with A&M and Clemson.

He should be used to it. Coach Stallings has always had to run in between his alma mater and the team he coached to a national championship. But his loyalty to Clemson goes far beyond his kinfolk as we know. Dabo has always treated coach Stallings like a Dad and it's for real. He has for years spent a lot of time on Clemson's field watching practice. My guess, he'll be pulling for Alabama this week.

Coach Stallings is indeed a special man to Dabo and a WHOLE LOT more guys, even myself!! I love the man like a grandfather! I've told the story before, but Coach took the time to learn about each and every one of his players, even the walk ons like me. He would call me by my first name, ask about my parents and their teaching jobs, ask about my sister that was 5 1/2 years younger than me and if she was coming to BAMA as well. Even though Coach Curry had recruited me, it was Coach Stallings that really took the time to know me. Since I have now lost both of my grandfathers, that feeling has changed into something stronger. I truly love that man!!!

that's not a coach....that's a mentor.....or more like a family member

those who get involved with their players personal lives (within reason, obviously) are the ones who make the biggest differences.

He spoke at one of Coach Saban’s clinics several years ago that I attended. Afterwards, he wanted to hang around and chat with some of his former players that were now in coaching at the HS level. He remembered each and every one of us! Even me!!

That's character!!

I think Dabo is made in this mold. Seeing interviews and how he treats players and coaches. This video of David is reminiscent of Coach Stallings and John Mark.

Stallings just had a crap AD......
Everything about him is and was class...and anybody that believes a player over what he said .... (Langham vs Stallings) ....aint right...
I don't recall Langham ever saying anything bad about Bebes. From my understanding, Antonio thought he was just signing an autograph, then the "agent" approached him during the '93 season, he told his story to Gene, who then reported it to compliance, they turned it over to the SEC and NCAA. Gene did give the NCAA guy a cold shoulder, when he showed up unannounced and was made to wait until Gene finished his current meeting. That is why Bama got absolutely hammered for what should have been a slap on the wrist.

Now the Means thing, later on down the line, that did deserve some actual punishment.
