It has to be a proven Head Coach. That program is too important for someone to be given the keys and told to go figure things out.
THE homerun name right now wold be Coach Saban. He is as hot a name as any, and would deal a huge blow to conference team over the next two years. With the money to be made with the right coach, there is no amount of money that would be unreasonable to through at him. But there have been ZERO rumors even hinting at him not being at home with this program. Other than money, he has all he wants here...and it is rolling according to plan.
Other than CNS, Bob Stoops fits. Stoops has a history at UF. He is proven at running a program (as long as car dealerships stay out of the way), having won a NC and produced a Heisman. Plus, he did stiff arm the Notre Dame job, which could have been him waiting for CUM to step down. (Remember, CUM's health issues were known within the program.) This also could explain to flight of his OC and DC,(i.e. they knew this was coming.)
The Peterson guy at Boise State is another that could get a look. The thought there is that hitting the refresh button on a Spread coach would be a simple fix. As far as why Peterson would come, he has to know that he can't win a title there or get rich there. This is his once in a life time shot.
Pete Carrol. If his ego is big enough, he may want to test himself in the SEC. Also, having success in a Conference with a Championship Game would remove the frustration of being the Team in the PAC 10 and not getting respect. Frankly, Pete Carrol's personality seems perfect for Florida. With his nationaly recruiting success, can you imagine what he would do in Florida against Randy Shannon and Miami and First Year HC Jimbo Fisher at Florida State? How many recruits would want to come with him?
