Someone just ratted on me. Not sure if it was someone on here, The Shirt Shop (currently producing same hat), The Trunk (producing for The Shirt Shop), or an actual fan that saw my hats! Got a call from the legal department at the licensing company that represents Alabama about five minutes ago. Nice guy, but apparently Alabama owns 18 and any other reference to Championships and the program.
Told him the story about me reaching out to the Alabama licensing department and getting blown off because I wasn't some big time company, but he was nice enough to send me an application with his company so I can produce Alabama items legally instead of having to tip toe around it all. Wanted to do it the right way from the start, but even my own school blew me off.

Seriouly they think they own the number "18" and outline of state of alabama?
Lol....
they should go up to collinsville flea market and see all non licensed products

They might see more than that at the flea market. You ever been to the Tacobet flea market at the top of the mountain above Scottsboro. Some interesting looking characters selling stuff there.

Well, they technically would if they got the copyright on it. But the thing that may get them is if they don't own the copyright on every style of font for the "18". Granted, they may have it worded to say that any stylized version of the state outline with ANY style "18" inside of it is covered under the copyright.
Still, people will be making it, using it, and selling it without permission from the school. It's been happening since the beginning and will continue to happen. Caveat Venditor, as it were.

Yeah, were claiming since I used school colors it's a reference to Alabama which is protected. I have an honest hard time thinking they win that case as that number moves every few years, , but I'm so busy with kids, my 9-5 job, and other hat orders that I don't have the time to go after them.
