| NEWS Several Alabama football coaching assistants on the hot seat after Crimson Tide’s one-sided Week 13 loss to Oklahoma - Sporting News

Bama has to do a much better job in recruit evaluation… most of our troubles come from picking the wrong players just because of their “star rating”… just to place high in the recruiting rankings..most of those so called 5 and 4 star players, just sat on the sidelines, in the past..

I see a number of fans comparing this season of DeBoer taking over from Saban to Saban’s first season taking over from Shula. Not me … I see this more and more like a Shula season. The Tide coaching staff looked clueless Saturday and the players looked pedestrian.

Do you ever stop and think about some of this stuff before you hit "post reply"?

And I'm the one exercising restraint. Please don't disrupt the entertainment stream...at least for a few weeks.

Often times I just ignore and let it slide... but I also feel that if bullshit begins to permeate here, it could end up like kudzu (and not @kudzu the former awesome member here). I just can't deal with that. We've seen an uptick with it lately, and some of it at least calls for some spot treatment, IMO.

It’s kind of obvious we have missed on quite a few.. and a lot of those so called 4 and 5 stars ain’t hitting on shit… so yes… I hope Deboer can get the right people here… and the others leave to where they fit in… some of what stayed behind are square pegs in a round hole..They don’t fit the new defense or offense…

It's often why I don't post about things I don't know much about anymore, or while I'm drinking.

I have major issue with the article. You see the title and you see the article and it doesnt say anything about nothing. Three assistants.. but article only mention OC and DC.

Alabama's season unraveled Saturday night with a 24-3 loss to Oklahoma. The Sooners have knocked the Crimson Tide out of the race for the SEC Championship and College Football Playoff. Their AP Poll ranking dipped to No. 13, and their CFP ranking figures to as well.

Partial blame can be put on three Alabama assistants, whose seats will likely be warm regardless of whether it makes the College Football Playoff or one of the highest-rated non-CFP bowl games.

SB Nation's Roll Bama Roll called for each assistant's jobs over the next year.

"You cannot let Nick Sheridan get on that charter flight back," Roll Bama Roll's tweet read. "And Wommack has exactly two games and one offseason to correct…this. The honeymoon is over. This is a criminal waste and an inflection point. Everyone ought to be coaching for their job for the next 13 months."

To make matters worse, the Crimson Tide's three points are the fewest they've scored in over a decade. Quarterback Jalen Milroe threw three interceptions and managed to muster up under 200 yards, completing 42.3% of his passes.

I'm not defending recruiting rankings... I have a very long history here of saying they are for the most part, worthless. Yes, overall they paint a decent picture of what a class is like as a whole, team by team. But player by player, while they nail some (usually evals that are pretty obvious to anyone with even a rudimentary understanding of football), they also miss on plenty... part of which is human nature, part of which is a gaping hole in their system of doing things. Other times, players just don't pan out for various reasons, because while they may have 4 and 5 star level talent, they have 1 star work ethic or attitude, something that isn't always easily measured from afar. But, the notion that this staff, or the previous staff, has their recruiting board arranged off the rankings of any recruiting website is just not grounded in reality. Some players fall short of what is expected of them. Always have. Always will. Happens in HS, college, and the NFL. Happens in baseball, basketball, hockey, and track and field. There's other reasons too, like poor or slower development, which can be a staff related issue... but again, Bama ain't tuned into Rivals or 24/7 or ESPN or whatever to see who they have ranked as the top strong safety so they can get an offer out to them.

There needs to be some red hot seats!!!
There is / was too much talent on the roster to produce these pissy results!

If DeBoer is as good of a coach as his past record indicates, then the assistants must be the issue.
The OC has shown multiple times this season that he has NO answers when the opponent has done a good job scouting our team and stops what we are doing.
The answer is NOT keep doing the same thing until it works. Against well-coached teams, you have to have plan B and sometimes C to overcome.

This is the poorest coached team I have seen in a very long time.
DeBoer's rep is sinking as well!

LOL... Alabama would fire every coach, every season if Roll Bama Roll made the call.

And the writer for the Sporting News piece... Please tell me this is an AI bot...

They used to say that if coaches listen to the fans, they’ll end us sitting with them on game days. I agree with the saying. But damn, out offense against UT and OU this year couldn’t have been any worse if coached by a fan.

If by “spot treatment” you mean giving your opinion why the commenter’s opinion is wrong then I’m all for that. I just hope this site doesn’t become just another Bama forum where only fans with permanently affixed crimson colored glasses may opine. Been there done that and it stinks out loud. And while there will always be some impossible to defend comments made, exposing them as such with facts and reason far outweighs blocking those commenters posts or banning them from the site. I can deal with idiocy via healthy debate, I can’t deal with suppressing opposing ideas just because they differ vastly from mine.

I can't remember the last time I sent someone into exile or deleted a user's post for simply posting an opinion. In fact, I don't recall it ever happening. But, I've seen a lot of stupid shit posted on this board lately, much of it nothing more than unfounded (and untrue) rumors, stated as fact. I've also seen some, what I'd call doomsday wishcasting, from a couple of members who just enjoy being miserable and want everyone else to hop along for the ride. On the former, it's unlikely I'm going to let a lot of that go unchecked for several reasons, least of not which is I don't want the perception out there that those ideas are supported by the people who run this site. On the latter, some days, I'm going to call those folks out and at the very least try to get them to defend their (almost always) uncovered positions. If any of that is too difficult for someone to handle, or they thinks it's unfair, mean, or simply a poor way to operate this site, I can offer links to other places. Or someone with under the hood knowhow like Lance or Terry might can offer tips on starting their own.
