| BSB/SB ⚾ SEC Tournament: Alabama’s Run in Hoover Ends with 9-2 Loss to Eighth-Ranked Vanderbilt

I'm only speculating when I think about the developing relationships between casino's and the media. It does make sense.

As an aside, this weekend's games also come on the heels of an NCAA report on the increasing number of gamblers within collegiate sports. (I think it's SI who has an article covering the report.) And, for what it's worth, the report does mention the number of people placing wagers on sports all across campus has increased with little noted differences between student athletes and students.
They touched on it pre game, I believe it was before Game 1. Since that time, it has been “Bo fired and team has been laser focused/ on fire since that time!”

Just got home from the game... best parts... getting to see @doemasters and Shelton's bomb. Not much else really. Good news is, the game didn't really matter all that much and the team can get some rest now before regionals... and a couple of the guys needs it. Recorded the softball game to DVR, but I think I'll pass on it. Kept up with it while I was there, and don't care to see it. Proud of Montana. Side note, hat tip to Hoover... all those folks at the Met, and I was still able to stream the softball game on my phone when I wanted to check it on it.

HOOVER, Ala. – Alabama baseball suffered a 9-2 loss to eighth-ranked Vanderbilt on Friday evening at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium. The 24th-ranked Crimson Tide is now 40-19 on the season.

Vanderbilt struck early with a five-run first. The Crimson Tide was able to cut into the deficit thanks to a two-run homer from Colby Shelton in the third but would get no closer. Vandy added three in the fifth and one in the ninth for the 9-2 final.

Shelton led the Tide in RBI with two as part of a 1-for-4 night that included one run scored. Andrew Pinckney was tops in hits with a 2-for-5 effort, doubling and adding one run scored. Vanderbilt starter Devin Futrell (7-3) came away with the win while Thomas Schultz picked up his first save of the season. Alabama's starter Jacob McNairy (6-2) suffered the loss.

From Interim Head Coach Jason Jackson

"The main thing was that the big innings got us tonight. We had some good at-bats. We hit some balls hard, hit some balls hard right at guys, and we just couldn't ever get much going offensively. You've got to give Vanderbilt credit; they did a good tonight."

A&M, 5-4 winner today, is a #2 seed in the Stillwater regional (Okie State.) The Cowboys are seeded at #15. If I'm an Aggie fan, I'd be happy with that regional.

If chalk holds true with seeding, except for A&M winning that regional, we'll see A&M and Florida again in the Supers.

Vandy handling Florida, 10-2 in the 4th...

If the selection committee is playing it straight without worry of SEC bias backlash, the SEC should legitimately have 9 regional hosts. They won't do that, but only Carolina and the Vols should be concerned. One thing I want to see at this point too his how they stagger the seeding of the SEC schools... do they try and avoid as many Supers matchups as possible, or do we several possible matchups looming for the 2nd weekend?

Florida
LSU
Arkansas
Vandy
Kentucky
Alabama
auburn
South Carolina
Tennessee

Yesterday, from D1 ... four of eight. If Bama makes it out of their regional we'd see the Tide vs Vandy again.

Was REALLY bored in the middle of the night and couldn't sleep. I put together my own regional seedings... not a guess of how it will actually go, just how I'd do it. The {parentheses) teams are the #2 seeds. I had reasons for most all of the seeding, but hell if I remember most of it. Just for fun...

1. Wake Forest (Northeastern)
2. Florida (North Carolina)
3. LSU (Dallas Baptist)
4. Arkansas (Oregon State)
5. Vanderbilt (East Carolina)
6. Clemson (Campbell)
7. Coastal Carolina (Duke)
8. Virginia (East Carolina)

9. Alabama (West Virginia)
10. Miami (Texas)
11. auburn (Southern Miss)
12. Stanford (TCU)
13. Kentucky (Indiana State)
14. Oklahoma State (Texas A&M)
15. South Carolina (UCONN)
16. Boston College (Tennessee)
