Hey guys! Nice looking site. I run the recruiting forum at a similar site as this one, www.cockytalk.com.

I have a few questions...I plan on coming to the game this weekend. This is my first away game experience, and I was wondering what is the best way to get to the stadium, where to park, where to eat, etc. I live in Huntsville, Alabama and if I could get directions coming from there that would be great.

Anyway, basically:

1) best way to get there
2) best place to park
3) best place to eat
4) things to do & see, nightlife, etc etc

Thanks!

1: I-65 to I-20/59 to exit 71?

2: No idea.

3: It depends on what you like. Dreamland is a tradition for visitors.

4: Visit the Bryant Museum. The "Strip" may offer some nightlife if you're into that kind of thing. You should really check out the Warner Museum if you're into art. It's often overlooked.

Best way to get there? Without getting lost..... I-65 South to I-59 south. Get off at McFarland. Take a right on McFarland and stay in the right land until you see University BLVD. Take right on University and follow it until you see cars parked everywhere. The closer you get to the stadium, the harder it is to get out.

My suggestion if you don't mind the walk.....

Instead of exiting at McFarland, exit onto 359 heading to North Port. Get off on Jack Warner Parkway and take a right. Follow Jack Warner all the way down the river until you get to McCorvey Dr. You'll see a park type area on the river side across from McCorvey. Park there. You'll walk up McCorvey and cut through the student center. Keep walking straight and you'll walk past the quad and straight to the stadium.

It's a little bit of a walk, but it makes it very easy to get out once the game is finished.

I always park at the BAMA Lanes. Google it. Cost $10 and the money goes to a scholarship fund. It's about a mile or so from the stadium, but after you cross the tracks you start hitting the campus, fans, etc... It's an easy trip from Huntsville. I know you are an SC fan, but make an Auburn SUXS sign so you can flash it to all the lil Aubies on your drive down. Makes the trip pretty fun. Of course having a hawt babe flashing, the sign that is, makes it really fun. OMG I love game day.

Thanks guys.

I don't have a problem walking.. I just don't want to get lost since I am pretty new to the state (moved here in June), and I have never been to T-Town.

How early do I need to get there to get a good parking spot? Is Gameday traffic fluid?

I find it pretty cool that I'll get to walk through campus as our stadium is off campus.

Georgia - I am still in the process of picking which instate school to "cheer" for in this state ;]

Your mind will be made up Saturday. ;)

Seriously though, I hope you enjoy yourself down there. If you're worried about getting lost, just stay simple. 65 to 59/20. Exit at McFarland and stay right. Then take University BLVD and take a right. You'll see the stadium as soon as you get on University.

As for traffic, it's not fluid. Leave early and you won't have a hard time getting there and parked, but it's always rough leaving.

Welcome aboard CT!!

Guys, he's from www.cockytalk.com. Pretty good forum I've watched since it was launched.

Follow Argo's advice on parking north of the stadium. At least, that's what I've always done...but then again, I enjoy walking through the campus and reliving some memories. Hell, now, even the bad memories are good. :headscratch:

Make sure and check out the quad on gameday.

Denny Chimes (bell tower on the quad) provides hand prints and footprints of captains throughout the years of Bama football. (as mentioned the Bryant Museum also)

Nightlife has the strip (near the stadium)
Also try Temerson Square. Its downtown Tuscaloosa (roughly a mile and a half from campus) Numerous bars/nightclubs in this area. There is a new dualing piano bar that is pretty popular at the moment with the ladies;)

Traffic will be bad leaving the game with the late KO. Most will be leaving as the game ends rather than sitting on the Quad and taking in more football on the tube.

Parking quite frankly SUX at UA even for those of us that go everyweek. Dont park at apartment complexes! You will get towed!

Food- Dreamland for the tradition (ribs) Mugshots for burgers (downtown near Temerson Square) and Chucks for Seafood and more upscale dining (across from Mugshots)

Enjoy your trip.

As a Tuscaloosa resident, I agree with the 359 approach. You could even try parkng downtown on University if you go early and walk towards campus from that direction.

As far as restaurants and entertainment, of course there is everything on the strip but downtown there is also:

Restaurants: DePalma's (my favorite, awesome italian place, mid-range$$$ - always packed), Venice Cafe (great menu, italianish, good wines - also mid-range$$$), Chuck's (great fish and sushi and appetizers a bit more upscale$$$), Mellow Mushroom (same as everywhere), Wilhagen's (sports bar - good food less pricey), Innis Free (Irish pub with good food and music), Brown's Corner (great burgers), Mugshots (also great burgers).

Clubs: 4th and 23rd, Little Willies (next to Wilhagen's). Innis Free, Copper Top, Catch 22, Rhythm and Brews.

Look forward to having you, you'll love our town - it's a great gameday experience!

Make sure you eat at Baumhower's wings. They're chicken wings are great. I like Jamaican Jerk and Cajun, but they have lots of others you might like, too. And their black and white chicken is excellent.

Here's the website: http://www.baumhowers.com/

And here's my favorite page on the menu: http://www.baumhowers.com/just-wing-it.php

It's right off McFarland Blvd, which is the main drag through Tuscaloosa, and it's really close to Bryant Denny Stadium.

Hope you have a safe trip to T-town and back.

Epic FAIL! Sorry, but you must declare for one or the other. SC will always be your team, but damn it you have to declare. After Saturday you will have no options except to declare for BAMA.

GT..while I concur with your sentiments, I would imagine it is very difficult for him living in Rocket City.

He is probably surrounded by NASA engineers that are from a certain goat humping cow college, whose claim to fame is that they have an Auburn flag on the moon.

BTW Cover Two. think of it like this. Lewis Grizzard referred to Clemson as Auburn "with a lake". They are one in the same. Who you gonna pull for?
