| FTBL Say Something Nice About The Nashville Area, Not The State Of Tennessee

One of my favorite spots for breakfast is the Loveless Cafe. Grand Ole Opry is awesome. One of the last reaming Cock of the Walk restaurants, which is nostalgic for me (great slaw). If you have kids, they have a great zoo.

Prince's Hot Chicken

Would echo this too... Super nice family, one member of which was a friend that passed away last year way too young. She was about to take over the business with her sister (as her mother transitioned into retirement)...

Cock of the Walk has new ownership, happened sometime just after COVID. Asian family. Service is horrendous, menu has about 6 items on it, a sad fall. On the positive side, there’s never a wait, other than a wait for your server to show up.

Well that's no good. Last time I was there was back in October of '21... it was the night auburn beat Ole Miss because I was watching that game on my phone at the table. It was crowded that night (with a wait) and food was fine, but maybe that was before the downfall. Hate to hear it is sinking... the one in Opelika and the one on the Causeway in Mobile (both RIP) years ago were favorites of the young Brandon Van de Graaff.

The Pharmacy. Great burgers/milkshakes and old fashioned chocolate soda's.

I will second Loveless Cafe.

The Ryman Auditorium. The "mother-church" of the Grand Ole Opry. Still a super cool venue.

I hear you. It used to be a great spot. We have a church event at the Gaylord every March, went over last year one evening for dinner and it was awkwardly quiet and slow. Someone finally came up and sat our group, we had our pick of tables even with a group of 9. After 20 minutes and no one coming by ever to get our drinks, we all got up and walked out. Another table did the same thing. I think when our 2 tables walked out, there was one party of folks still inside. My brother and his family went this summer and had a similar experience, I’d forgotten to tell him about ours. The food may still be good, we just didn’t get that far. But the menu was not what I remembered. They had maybe 5-6 different options on the menu, very limited. But it was the staples, catfish, chicken strips, pork chop…

Changing the subject a bit...

I've had this 'notion' for years...that type of a restaurant would work and work well. A blend of your "City Cafe" in AL and your "Taco Tuesday's" found all over the place. Except in this case, it would be one item on one day with your veggies and bread. IE: Thursday is Chicken and Dumplings, a few sides, but that's all that's sold on Thursday. It's looped in with the continuing search for church to close that is in a good location for a restaurant.

One of my best friends' son runs the Halls kitchen in Nashville...if anyone is headed there I might be able to drop him a note and say, "look out for."

Hall’s Chophouse downtown? That place is wonderful.

Your suggestions reminds me of Morrison’s. 🤣 I know that’s not what you’re advocating or envisioning, but it comes to mind. When I worked for my uncles in Jr. High and High school, we’d be in Huntsville or Decatur and get the blue plate special. Always a treat.

Yes. He's been there over a year now...maybe almost two. When he was here it was about like a bartender buying you a shot. We'd get a few bites of Wagyu or something along the same line. He brought a few glasses of wine out at times. I'm not much of a wine drinker, but that was DAMN good and ... well, hit ya like a six pack of beer in a glass.

And, the "blue plate special" is something I've looked at: blue plates. The styrofoam containers for to-go orders? I'm not thinking about the name of the place, or the phone number. Just a blue plate on top of the box. Like the Mc'Donalds "M," people will remember the blue plate logo.

Located over near Opry Mills Mall and the Grand Ole Opry, this was at one time, at very good place to eat.

Lovelace Cafe is very good but a good 30 minute drive west of downtown. I recommend Monell’s on 7th north.
