🏈 Say 1 Thing Nice About Tennessee

Not as high on Nashville as a lot of folks as it's too trendy for my tastes anymore. When the dudes are wearing tighter jeans than the chicks, I leave that to everyone else. But I did go to Neyland once about 15 years ago and it was pretty cool seeing the stadium on the banks of the Tennessee River and catching a game there. It was an older looking stadium, but it was, and still is, the biggest stadium I have ever been in. They were good fans when I was there. Though I did about have to backhand a six year old boy that was sitting next to me that wouldn't shut up telling me how bad our team sucked. He was right, but still, ha ha. This was when I was a Georgia fan by the way.

There is one thing Liberals and Conservatives can agree on. Dolly Parton is an angel and deserves everything good that ever happens to her and more.

100%. She's doing a fundraising concert this Sunday in Nashville... if there had been more advanced noticed, I'd have made arrangements to go. I've promised my little girl I'd taker her to see her at some point, and she hasn't been on tour in a while (COVID put a stop to it).

I spent five very pleasant and, as it turned out, ultimately rewarding years in graduate school at UT. As a peon, I was usually stuck with teaching 8:00 am classes; but so were the freshman football players, so as not to interfere with afternoon practice. I ended up teaching a number of guys who would become stars or otherwise legendary figures in Vol football circles. They included Curt Watson (who broke UT's all-time rushing record), Phil Pierce, and, yes, Philip Fulmer. I made no secret at all about being a diehard Bama fan and used to rag them about it in class. You could say they got back at me by winning four of the five Bama-Vols games while I was in Knoxville. And it became clear that they didn't seriously resent my trash talking from behind the lectern, because their evaluations of the class won me a departmental award for teaching.

You were a rose among the thorns.

I said it last year and I’m sticking with it as it’s the only good thing I can think of concerning the vile state … it’s only a short ride through Tennessee if you’re heading North to South or South to North. Fulmer ruined me on the state for life.
