Not that I had any respect for Sark prior to reading this, but after reading it I have zero respect for the guy. What an f'ing tool, what a chicken shit way to go about your business.

Disability my ass, it's a damn choice (that's my opinion).

Here's how it works at my place of employment. ( Not that its the perfect model, but...)
You have a problem, you come forward and ask for help, you will be given help for free ( insurance.)
You show up to work drunk or stoned, or fail a pee test, your ass is fired.

Sark strikes me as one of those who can't take the pressure of being in the spotlight, and booze was his way of trying to hide from it. At least as far as I know he did not have this kind of issue when he was at Washington. I don't think he or his attorney wants this to go to trial, as the discovery process could be really embarrassing. If it does go to trial, I would think that the school would want a jury to hear it.

Reuben, your place of work has a sensible policy. I was a career federal employee, with many years in management, and its policy made it extremely difficult to deal with those who had alcohol or drug related problems. Usually, if we were able to get rid of the employee it was due to his condition rendering him unable to come to work over long periods of time. The paperwork involved even in that was unbelievable.
