| FTBL Sabans post game presser

Coach Saban looks kind of rough. :? I would too though.

I love (absolutely love!) what he said about responsibility starts with him. He blamed himself and said he didn't prepare the team as well as he should have.

I love it when your head coach puts the blame at his own feet. We all know he wasn't out on the field, yet he steps up to the plate and takes responsibility for these young kids.

I do know he was heated several times today. He says it all right. It came down to not executing. It's not the pretty, glamorous story but the truth nonetheless.

Some people are getting a new one chewed out tonight that's for sure!

He said what needed to be said. I love him with the media

college coaches success comes from recruiting just as much as coaching. Im not as upset with out loss's this year. Hell we arent more talented with MSU

Yes, we are more talented that MSU. Running down the quality of our players is a red herring against MSU. Turnovers and not being able to put the ball in the end zone lost it for us today. We held them to 215 total yards and just 14 first downs. No turnovers, we win, or convert two of our four FG to TDs, we win.

Turnovers kill a team. Lost opportunities kill a team.

Well said....the INT that went for a TD was a 10 point swing......that is the difference in the game.

Poor execution on all parts, with no single blame.

Thats the kinda guy Id like to play for. Win or lose this year, I am glad hes the coach.

Also, dang, I really like Applewhite, just wanted to throw that in there since Saban mentions him.

Speaking of MSU talent, I just realized Titus Brown is from Tuscaloosa. He was a 2 star linebacker for Tuscaloosa-Hillcrest and only had offers from Miss St, Alabama A&M and a Div II school.

You know that kid has really loved to beat Bama for the last two years.

He wanted badly to come to BAMA, but never got an offer. He has certainly proved that folks missed out on him.

Maybe it is just me, but for Finebaum to take cheap shots at a kid like JPW, is totally classless. Ofcourse, that is just Finebaum. What a POS.

Tim, overall we may be more talented than MSU, particularly at the skilled positions on offensive, but State does have a few talented players on defense and in the trenches. Some folks are not giving State much credit. If MSU had a quality qb, they would be able to compete more consistently.

With that said, I do agree, turnovers did killed us. But again, MSU had a hand in that. On the 100-yard interception play that turned the game completely around, MSU had a defensive player in JPW face before he really could do much of anything. Unfortunately he made a poor decision and threw it instead of taking the sack. And we all know the rest of the story.

Bama's biggest problems right now include the same old OL woes, and JPW occasionally getting into the habit of throwing off his back foot or not setting up properly before releasing the ball, thus, the inaccuracy at times with passes being overthrown. There is one play in particular in the third quarter that haunts me (besides the obvious interception return) and that is when an opened receiver was overthrown near the back of the end zone. We connect on that pass and everyone right now would be talking about how lucky Bama was for coming away with a win.

But I guess I might be on my heels, too, if I constantly had pressure on me from a defensive lineman or blitzing defensive back.

Mentally, Bama was not ready to play State today. There were several things that contributed to the loss, including lack of focus (dropped passes), playing without intensity (going through the motion), and some stars who normally find themselves in the mix were taken out of this game (there are two or three players, both offensively and defensively, who seemed like phantoms today-invisible or almost non-existent).

I'm not putting or running these players down but simply stating some things that contributed to the loss.

I can only imagine what the players are gonna feel like when and if they watch the replay. As it already has been alluded to by others, execution was lacking in some areas.
