Wanted to create this forum for now and future use. Just gonna go over film, post film studies from other coaches, and just talk about all the different ways you can fit runs. Don't be scared to talk, or post anything on this subject. There's always something new to learn.
He covers how each position should fit their runs in this video. They pretty much teach their guys(especially linebackers and D-lineman) how to fit their runs the exact same way we did it under Saban.
Are you talking about the video where he goes into talking about "Mint," etc.? There was one published last year using the college football video game as a prop.
I don't know how this crossed my mind. There's a channel on YT called MatchQuarters you might find interesting. I came across his videos more than five years ago it seems.
Why you say that? How Tennessee gonna expose Schumann and company this week?
Offense is still same. Defense is still same. Georgia defense is still good. They're one of the few teams in SEC that can slow them down. Check out the game last year. Georgia beat them soundly.
Scheme is same for both sides, but different players.
If anything I think Tennessee is likely to be exposed more than Georgia. Georgia has same issues the last few years.. conservative offense.
Their defenses haven't been what they were five years ago which runs right into the strength of Tennessee, the offense. Tennessee has questions on defense as UGA does on offense.

The ESPN predictor has UGA with a 51.5% of a win this Saturday. That's about a 10 percentage point drop from before their game last weekend.
And no. I don't put a lot of emphasis, nor faith, in their predictor. (Every time they hint at their formula's there is a new ranking that doesn't meet their definitions. See USF ranking this week in the FPI.)

I don't trust ESPN either. What I'm looking at is how they match up with Tennessee schematically defensively. The defense they run is catered to stopping Tennessee... and they have done exactly that the last 4 years. If Georgia goes out there and doesn't play at a high level, then yeah, Tennessee could potentially take advantage of any mistake Georgia makes out on that field. But with their track record against heupel and his system, I'm inclined to believe they'll shut that shit down again.

This is a old snippet of film on Dean that I went over a few years ago.
UAB is in 11 personnel. Dean is on the strong side of the field due to UAB having their TE(or fullback, not quite sure) lined up in the backfield. Already an indicator to Dean that they're going to possibly run a play to that side of the field. He reads his keys and sees the OL are run blocking, Dean fills the A gap, then reads the RB bouncing it out to the outside of the tackle. He does a great job at playing it inside out the whole play, takes away a cutback lane, and forces forces the RB to the sideline. Takes a great angle, showcases his sideline to sideline speed, closes the space on the ball carrier, and makes a great tackle. A great showcase of discipline (sign of great coaching) and natural ability all in one play.
Both Foster and Ragland fit this perfectly. Tennessee is in 11 personnel, we're in our nickel package(arguably base now) and in an even front look. Tennessee is running an Rpo, Foster does a good job of scraping downhill and fitting his gap. Foster has two reads here, if Dobbs keeps it and runs to area, then it's his job to contain him and play it inside and out. Bus other read is what you see on the video, Dobbs hands it off, Foster reads that and continues to scrape downhill, fill his gap, and get in in the play. Theres also him reading the pulling guard and TE from the boundary and indicating that they're probably running the ball in that direction. He also keeps himself in a position to play Dobbs if he were to keep it and run is way. Great read by Foster here.
Ragland also reads this is my perfectly as well, just like Foster, he's multiple reads in this play as well. Fills the backside A gap, reads the pulling guard and TE, but is disciplined in not overcommitting and continues to play it in case Dobbs kept it, and you can see that if he did keep it, he was going to run to the boundary side of the field, so Ragland would've had to scrape over and play him inside out. He reads that he handed it off, remained in his gap, scraped downhill and got in on the play.
Perfectly played by both of these guys. Also showed their discipline with their eyes as well. Love it.
Also, peep how there's just nowhere to go for whoever has the ball. Every gap is filled, we disrupt the line of scrimmage, and if Dobbs kept it and bounced it outside, we got our RIP/LIZ player coming down and filling to. Cyrus Jones as well, he would've worked off his guy and came downhill to make a play. Perfectly called, and perfectly executed by everyone. This is what I want to see Alabama do again defensively. I miss this shit.
