A-Day will be the first time we've ever tailgated. Do you have to reserve a spot or is it like a first come first serve kinda thing?

First come, first serve. Kind of like a land rush.

Do many people set-up tents and sleep overnight on the Quad? I was thinking about just setting up a two sleeper tent Fri. night.

Most folks just set their tailgate tents up and leave Friday afternoon or evening, very few stay out there all night. I walked around on the back side of the Quad last year while we were there at about 4 am, and didn't see anyone. There were a few camping tents closer to Denny Chimes, but I'm not even sure if they were occupied at that time.

The fiance and I are planning on going up there on Friday night after she gets off of work. I'll be sure and bring a few choice beverages. She'll be able to tell you I've been known to down quite a few on a given night. :drk

Do they let people set up tents and camp out overnight on the quad? I read in the tailgating rules that you can't use stakes on the quad.

Yes, you can set up a tent if you want, in certain areas. There is a rule against using stakes, but you can get creative and use something else (like sandbags) or use them anyway.

My fiance' and I will stop by. This will be her first time in Tuscaloosa and she's a life long Alabama fan. I'm sure she'd enjoy being around Alabama fans! Yes, I'm an AU fan.

We'll be setting up a tent overnight as well. I'm guessing as long as the stakes are hammered to the ground well, it will be just fine. They are most likely worried more about people tripping over them.

How do yall think the weather's gonna be this weekend? I saw on the news that they're giving like 50% chance of scattered thunderstorms Friday and 20% chance of rain Saturday. I know I'll still be there. A little rain can't keep me from Bryant Denny. I just hope it doesn't scare people out of coming. I hope it's gonna be a packed house like last year.

As of now, it looks like some bad storms will move though Tuscaloosa on Friday during the day, possibly the afternoon and into the evening. After that the cold air arrives for the weekend, Saturday looks to be mostly dry, but much cooler... high around 67.

Can one of you guys give me a suggestion on where to try to park so I can find you guys for the tailgating? Its my first trip to BDS

You are in for a treat.

Personally, I'd say park along Campus Drive for no other reason than you have to walk through the campus to get to the Quad. I've always parked there because it's easy to get in and out, but I've always enjoyed walking through the campus.

www.ua.edu has a good map for you. www.uagameday.com (I think that's the link) should have one as well.

I've got the map, I was just trying to figure out where on it to head for

Guess I'll try for college drive if its possible by time i get there. Thanks for the suggestion Terry.

Just to update everyone, with the rain that is expected this afternoon and tonight, we will more than likely wait until early Saturday morning to set up our spot on the Quad. We should have it set up by 7am and we will try to be as close as possible to last year's spot (the one shown in the original post). Just look for our 3 tents, and the RollTideBama.com banner.
