@It Takes Eleven, I see what you're saying now.

There are instances where the the feed importer pulls the same article from several different sites. I try to keep in mind to delete those but often forget. That's something that really can't be avoided...it's a bit of a hack within the url that pulls content based on key words...it was forced because Google want's everyone on their site for news and they started killing API's and several other things.

What's odd about that pull is the number of articles pulled that morning. I glanced through and saw at least 30 pulled at 3:40AM ET. It was almost as if it was a deep dive into the Tidesports database or they did something on their end to make the all appear as new content.

Would a server change to that? Maybe if the bots are crawling a new site...but that's just me guessing.

There's nothing out there right now that automatically deletes duplicate posts. There may be an option to put them through an approval queue—haven't really considered that until just now. It would end up being more work on the back end—a daily clean up.

How often do you use the What's New section for news articles?

I use the New Posts option under What's New every time I come to the site. I might glance at the alerts to see if I was quoted or mentioned and owe someone a response (like this post), but I use New Posts more times than not. That's why I get the old articles mixed in the relevant new posts.

RTR,

Tim
