This is going to be so common in the coming years that it will be hard for coaches to have any confidence in their key backups sticking around between the end of season and the start of Spring, between Spring and summer practices and in some cases between Fall camp and the end of the season. It won’t dramatically impact programs like Bama but lower tier Power Five programs on down will feel the impact.

I still hate Kendall Sheffield got away to Ohio State a few years back. Solid player, got impatient. Turned out ok for him, but I think could have been even stronger player had he stayed.
