Bill Oliver, former player, coach and defensive coordinator at Alabama has passed away at 85.

Legendary Alabama football coach, winner of 5 national championship rings, dead at 85

RIP Coach! I remember spending a lot of my first Spring under Coach Stallings with Coach Oliver. Coach Moore didn’t want to spend time with multiple walk on QBs, so I was sent to Coach Oliver and the DBs. Threw so many passes for DBs to read and break on! My shoulder STIILL suffers from it over 35 years later. I told George Teague that it was “me that DEVELOPED the secondary of those great defenses!”

I guess our QB is safe.

What a fun guy to sit and talk with... I don't think he knew what a stranger was...He busted out laughing when I told him I was going to get him an "Alaburn" sweatshirt for Christmas..

Great coach period. Coach Bryant stole him away from Shug late 60’s early 70’s. Really hated that he and Stallings clashed and he went back to the boogs as DC.

I've said this before and I stand behind it today.

The best thing I've ever seen in my life was a car pulled off the road on I-10 after that game that had "We ain't played anyone yet" in shoe polish on the back windshield. That little blonde girl was HOT! It was just....so damn funny. I should have stopped and introduced myself. Missed opportunity. Nothing can rob that memory.
