| PRO Rolando McClain seeks return to the NFL

The former No. 8 overall pick by the Oakland Raiders in 2010 told Matt Zenitz of AL.com that he is going through the process of trying to be reinstated by the NFL.
McClain last played in the NFL in 2015 as a member of the Dallas Cowboys. He was suspended indefinitely in 2016 for repeated failed drug tests. Per Zenitz, the linebacker is working with the NFLPA and going through the process of attempting to get reinstated by the NFL.
"I'm nowhere near satisfied with how my professional career has gone," McClain told Zenitz. "That's for myself. That's me looking in the mirror and talking to my boys. Nah, that's not the taste I want to leave in my mouth."

Turning 30 years old on Sunday, McClain said he feels healthier after hip surgery in 2016.
"Every time I got in my linebacker position, it was bone-on-bone grind," McClain said. "Not only do I feel good, I'm recovered and I'm rested. I feel better now because I know I'll be playing with two legs."

I feel like his career has been very good, when he doesn't screw it up in the offseason. His stint with the Cowboys was set to make him a Pro Bowler again and get him a huge contract, then he freaking got in trouble again. I love watching him play. He is so big and lean that it amazes me to see a guy that big move so well. I sure hope he gets a chance and for goodness sake stays out of trouble and earns it back.

Probably the most gifted and talented ILBer of the Saban era. As much as I was pulling for him with the Cowboys the way he left out of there I just don't see it. I think the NFL has a better read on McClains personal problems and I think most teams would be reluctant to pick him up. But supertalented guy always get more of the benefit of the doubt. Frankly, I was hoping he found a niche with Bama working with Saban. He's a smart guy, no doubt, just emotionally struggles with life.

My opinion is if the NFL Commissioner allows it someone will pick him up. So much talent to not give him a shot especially if the team can get him cheap which I would assume would be the case. If it works out they have a talented experienced player. If not they cut him and move on.

If I had to guess, the coffers are depleted. He lost some of the most lucrative financial years of his playing career.

Crazy to work so hard to get to the NFL and then let it all go to shit.

Color me skeptical.

I love come back stories & I truly hope he can make it back.

I'd love to see some resemblance of the old Rolando making rotations in the Falcons LB team. I'm sure if he joined the practice squad that he'd make the depth chart IF he was still legit.

I thought this was one of those old news stories that was getting recycled by the newsbot. Wish him the best, just don't think it will happen.
