I know the stats and all that, but does losing Sentimore hurt our depth at all?
It doesn't help. He'd probably get @35% of the snaps in a game in relief of Damion Square.
On the bright side of this story...
Undra has had a pretty darn good spring camp so we've developed some depth with him. Besides Billingsley, we only have one guy who I'd consider one limited to the DE position on our roster right now; Chris Bonds. I haven't heard anything about Chris that has stuck out to me and that is NOT saying he hasn't had a good spring.
Here's the kicker, point of caution, with the DE position and rotation/depth. We've got personnel groupings that include Hubbard and Upshaw lining up as a JACK in the DE position.
Add to that we've got a handful of players who can play inside or out depending on down and distance. Nick Gentry is a great example. He's not got the talent of the other guys, but his desire, motor, don't quit attitude, etc., is what has earned him his playing time in our system. I haven't heard a lot about William Ming as of late. I've asked, but no real info as of yet. When he signed, he had all the attributes Nick possesses, had a very strong upper body but needed to work on his lower body strength. He's an RS Soph. this upcoming season. That gives him two years under Cochran. So, how physically ready he is for SEC play...don't know.
A few guys we have that I haven't mentioned... Xzavier Dickson, LaMichael Fanning is widely considering to play inside but is at a DE's size right now...DJ Pettway is another. I suspect all three 'shirt right now.
I'm not going to get into it...but, we've got a few DT's who can slide outside as well...IE: Jessie.
