🏈 Robbie Green suspended

Not a user, nor have I ever been. I'm not going to chastise anyone who has or even is, except to say, take care of yourself.

Now, I've drunk to excess, and taken some stupid risks and chances with that. Alcohol is a leading cause for many health problems that can take years to manifest, or take a split second to change lives. I just don't think the evidence backs up marijuana's supposed dangers. It does have some effects on a person though, and should be a controlled substance, IMO.

For Robbie, I hope that he can demonstrate the type of behavior that gets him back on the team. He's got talent, and he's got experience. I'm confident he can turn it around.

lol @ people bashing Green. I'm just waiting for the "we have more talented guys behind him anyways" remarks now.

Its already started. Someone already said that 'he never impressed me' and 'hasnt done anything special'. I guess he was supposed to have an incredible season in the one year he's had quality playing time lmao

I'm not bashing the kid at all, but toleration of marijuana will eventually lead to stronger substances IMHO. I have a friend that started out that way with a little weed and it eventually graduated to cocaine and almost killed him. He is a recovering addict. If Robbie was smoking the weed and failed a test, we have to get him straightened out or we will lose him.

Completely untrue.

I always hear that marijuana is a gateway drug...but I know many who have done it for years and years and have never even entertained the thought of doing something hard. There's someone here and there who went down that path...but I can honestly tell you it wasn't from anything marijuana did but from their own curiousness. You have to look no further than the country of Holland to see this. In Holland ever since the legalization of marijuana, the use of hard drugs such as cocaine or heroine have gone down substantially. I'm not trying to push anyone's buttons...but I find it laughable that marijuana is illegal yet alcohol, a far more dangerous substance, isn't.

I will even tell you that I myself used to partake in pot smoking. I never once had the urge to "graduate." I no longer do it, and it wasn't hard to quit.

Regardless, it can have effects and shouldn't be done by anyone looking to have a career in professional sports. Hopefully he'll have his punishment and learn from it.

Agree with everything said here. I personally used to be extremely bad with the weed and I'll be the first to admit that it did have an affect on focus and stuff like that, but I NEVER repeat NEVER had the urge to ever try anything else nor have I. I'm not trying to say Green shouldn't be punished at all. He did something that is against the rules and even illegal, he should be punished, but good lord a half a season to a whole season is a bit damn much. Especially in a game where we see people being arrested for far worse things being suspended for a game or two. I would expect regardless of how the NCAA punishes him he is going to have to work his ass off and earn that trust back from Coach Saban.

Ive never had drug problems, but my family has. It can be dishearteningto watch it happen. For me it is actually something that still happens.

I can foorgive Robby because he is young, and I hop other people take that into account too, and Robby drops the stuff. Weed isnt the most addictive substance out there.

Point is, if he broke team rules, the law, etc.....he should be punished. If he failed a drug test, obviously thats a violation of team rules. The thing thats funny to me is, im sure he isnt the only player on the team smokin the green. HOpefully, our coaching staff will do the right thing. If that means setting an example, so be it.

So you're in the know? Why not spill the beans then? The cryptic message about Todd Bates only fuels speculation. I'm assuming you're talking about PEDS.

Exactly. To keep this thread from drifting deeper into further speculation let's just wait to hear from the University. I will say this - the University will appeal whatever suspension they are given from the NCAA.
