Sorry if you're a Richt fan, but it's true. The guy is an absolute MORON. He has no clue as to what he's doing at any given minute.

For all of his time at FSU and his ballyhooed offenses, he's an offensive idiot when it comes to SEC football. He continues to insist on running a Pac-12 or Big-12 style offense in the SEC, because maybe in his first year or two....it worked.

It doesn't work any more!

Everyone seems to get this but Richt.

He continues to run finesse offensive schemes that might work in the ACC, but simply don't work in the SEC.

UGA is the team that gets to the red zone and runs a fade pattern for a score. And when that doesn't work, they run another fade. Then they run a fade to other side.

UGA is the team that when it comes to 3rd and short will talk a big game and try to bully you into giving it to them.....while they run a reverse. They simply don't have the mentality or the will do punch it in.

Say what you want to about Mike Bobo as the OC, but it's Richt's game. Bobo wouldn't and couldn't do anything without Richt's consent. Richt continues to run these sissyfied offensive philosophies.


Playing a team like Boise tonight....I knew what would happen. I've seen this script before. It's been done. It's an embarresment to the SEC. They're already talking it up on ESPN, even thought most (if not all of us) figured Boise would come in and manhandle a bad SEC team with feminine issues. I know RIcht might be a great human being, but how this guy still has a head coaching job is beyond me. He's Shula, in Athens.

The way i see it is he should have been gone when it came to pass that he couldnt do more with Matthew Stafford than he did. That offense he had then should have torched everyone.

The problem with him leaving? This would be our last year with Kirby Smart. And we'd be in a dogfight with Smart recruiting Georgia. Seriously, if they don't fire Richt and offer the moon to Kirby, their administration has serious issues.

Case in point:

UGA just had a 4th and 1. They didn't go with a run. They didn't go with a short pass to a back or tight end or even a receiver. They threw it 10+ yards to pick up a 4th and 1.

They missed it.

They always do.

They ran that play because (1) they can't run for a yard against a decent defense, and even Boise knows this, (2) they have to keep 7 in to protect against 5 rushers.............going back to how UGA is coached, or not (meaning they're weak) and (3) it's all-finesse, all the time. Typical West-Coast offensive play-calling.

Richt is done. Seriously, I don't see him getting past this season. He's gotta go, and I'm not even a Georgia fan. It's embarrassing.

it is shameful to underachieve as so many georgia teams have in the past. there really is no excuse for the university of georgia having a bad football program. plenty of instate talent and plenty of money. get it together bulldogs!

To be honest, I'm surprised again this year that he is still there. Its sad to see a program that has UGA's history, and UGA's potential, behave like its Kentucky Football.

I too worry about losing Coach Smart to the Dawgs, but good assistants leave. That's what they do, so you take the good while you can. Thanks Coach.

Oddly, (in a sad attempt to keep my hopes alive) I will share that I did read that Dan Mullins may also be one of the names of interest should UGA wake up and smell the burning coffee that stunk up the Georgia Dome last night. I could see this happen, it the timing and money allow it.

BTW, mark "NO" for me in the DO YOU LIKE GEORGIA'S UNIFORM poll. I did like the fact that there were not names on the back, rather the name of the school that they were there to represents was there. That right call was likely made by Nike vice Richt. If Richt would have made that decision the players woudl have had twitter addresses on their jerseys.

The power rangers looked good for awhile and just fizzled out. I think Richt will be gone at the end of the year, he has been in the top 10 in recruiting every year that he has been there and has nothing to show for it. He is on the hot seat.

I agree that Richt will probably be gone after this season. There really is no reason for Georgia to ever be mediocre for any extended period of time. They haven't been to the SEC Championship Game since 2005...while their biggest rival, Florida, has been 3 times, with 2 National Championships. I just feel like Georgia should be competing on a higher level in big games.

"10 wins again" are empty calories to the Dawg fans that I know. Vandy, Kentucky, and the chance to schedule 3 OOC cupcakes get them to 5 wins. Pick up one more W somewhere for #6 and you get to a bowl game, where you have a month to practice for W #7. That means Richt must play .500 ball (3 for 6) against teams of substance to earn #10.

Beyond 10 wins, UGA has been unremarkable. No National Title back since Carter was dealing with the Iran Hostage situation is nothing to hang a hat on. Consider what their neighbors/rivals have done; Clemson, Georgia Tech, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, and Auburn have all won National Titles. Its so bad that What is the closet FBS team to Athens, Georgia that has NOT won a National Title since UGA did it last? is a good question. I think the answer is South Carolina, who by the way is also doing better than Georgia.

Look behind the curtain and you see a program that may have been the most underperforming program in the country.

So true. Georgia has a great tradition, and this stat (despite the inflation of 10 win seasons with a 13 game sched) is an indicator of their irrelevance through much of the 80's and 90's. Going 20+ years between conference championships is a good measure of significant lapses in what could and should be a marquee program.

Last Conference title was 2005, and followed immediatly by an unbroken string of NATIONAL Titles by Florida, LSU, Alabama, and Auburn. Reality makes their success look like failure, and there is not sign of that changing.

UGA embarrassed themselves, not the SEC. To me, us losing to Utah was more embarrassing that Georgia losing to Boise State. We all know what to expect from Georgia under Richt, he has given plenty of examples over the last few years of how they compete.

Georgia looked completely unprepared for it and got gassed very quickly. Very disappointed.

Don't get me wrong. I think Boise has a good defense, but it all shows in the coaching of the two teams. Boise looks coached up and probably plays above their heads defensively. UGA just looks undisciplined and erratic.

But still, the nail in the coffin for Richt I think is the fact that he can't seem to come to terms with his offense. His offense, no matter how much talent they have year in/year out, is just completely dysfunctional and downright impotent a lot of the time. In the last few seasons I've seen a trend in which UGA doesn't seem to have the ability to line up and run against decent teams. They can't even string together passing plays because the offense seems (and this is just me maybe?? ) completely dependent on a superstar to make the plays needed to be successful.

Everything just seems hard for them offensively. They have a phenomenal quarterback yet they can't make plays in the passing game. On paper, they have the best line in the SEC year in, year out, but can't run the ball and have trouble protecting the passer.

Maybe what sums it up best for me is that they look like Shula's team the year Prothro went down. Completely dependent on one player to carry them, and when that player is out, the offense ceases to function. Look at how pitiful they were last year when Greene missed those games. UGA was completely inept without him.

That's coaching and philosophy, plain and simple.
