🏈 Rich Getting Richer-Big addition to staff

If I'm remembering correctly his career was an absolute mess a few years ago

That's how I remember it. He was the HC at New Mexico when Cyrus Kuandijo had them in his final group until the end. I recall a lot of speculation and some bad stories coming out about him then.... all of which were likely grounded in bias hater perspective.

All that nonsense aside, having a top recruit in the nation keep NM in consideration until the end speaks volumes to his recruiting prowess.

I'm certain he's well vetted. Great hire.

Heard he was replacing ol' Otis(although if memory serves, Yelverton hired as director of player personnel) who allegedly never made it to T-Town. Anyone have any solid info on that?

Brilliant move - Kiffin is divorcing, making it even MORE unlikely that he will stay after the 2016 season. Bring in a good offensive mind, put him at analyst for a year, let him learn about the Process. When Kiffin bolts, voila - new OC and excellent recruiter. Saban won't even miss a beat.

Reportedly hired as the Assistant DPP, but got caught up in the vetting process.

There's a story in how that all worked out I'd love to get the finer details on. AU was after him in a major way and had been for about a month before we starting hearing about him joining the PP guys. Poof! He's off the market.

The smoke clears and he's back in the JUCO ranks from what I understand ... if this was truly a chess match, around signing day, between AU and UA it ended up well. I've got pretty sufficient reason to believe that's the case.

This world of collegiate football we follow in 2016 has guys that influence kids in a very strong way. It's better to have them on your side than against you. Now, how to describe these "relationships" between influential coaches and the staff? Pre-meditated? Calculated? Maybe it should be called a tatical relationship the staff had with Otis?
