Report: AJ McCarron Sitting Out Of Senior Bowl Because He Believes Heās A Top-20 Pick
Update: McCarron himself has decided to weigh in on Middlekaufās report ā by comparing its validity to Charles Barkleyās golf swing. In short, heās denying it. Weāre in he-said-she-said territory here.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>John Middlekauff & his sources are about as good as Charles Barkleys golf swing!!! sorry Charles! Still my boy haha <a href="https://twitter.com/search?q=%23awfulreporters&src=hash">#awfulreporters</a></p>— AJ McCarron (@10AJMcCarron) <a href="https://twitter.com/10AJMcCarron/statuses/424270182237085696">January 17, 2014</a></blockquote>

Earlier: While many believe that former Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron should suit up in this yearās Senior Bowl to help his cause ahead of Mayās NFL draft, the three-time national champion has decided to instead train for the combine on his own. Why?
According to John Middlekauff of 95.7 The GAME, McCarron believes heās going to be a top-20 pick.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>My sources say AJ McCarron chose not to play in the Senior Bowl (not b/c of the inj) b/c he thinks he's a top 20 pick</p>— John Middlekauff (@JohnMiddlekauff) <a href="https://twitter.com/JohnMiddlekauff/statuses/424242355533660160">January 17, 2014</a></blockquote>

Reading in between the lines here, that would mean that McCarron thinks he can only do himself harm by playing in the exhibition game.
McCarron
took to Twitter earlier this week with a message for those hating on his decision. While heās been labeled as a āgame managerā in the past, he has been wildly successful as a college quarterback, racking up a 36-4 record as a starter. With Johnny Manziel, Teddy Bridgewater and Blake Bortles all declaring for the draft earlier this year, itāll be interesting to see if McCarron ends up being right.
