Defensive back
Alabama has three solid commitments in
Antonio Kite,
Tre'Quon Fegans and
Jake Pope. Fegans and Kite will take official visits to Alabama this weekend. Pope visited in June. Other schools have continued recruiting Pope. He took a few unofficial visits to Georgia, but will sign with Alabama on Wednesday.
Many in the Miami circles believe the hiring of Mario Cristobal has the potential to sway Little Jr., a Miami legacy, to the Hurricanes, but don't buy into it. Little has been a heavy-Alabama lean since the spring. Coach Cristobal will do really well recruiting the elite players in the area, but just don't expect him to steal Little away from the Tide this late in the game.
Nick Saban, Holmon Wiggins and Jay Valai had an in-home visit with
Domani Jackson on Tuesday. We know the visit went extremely well for both sides. This wasn't a visit to make sure Jackson will sign with Alabama. It's to reassume him what all Alabama can do for him and his future as far as development and competing against the best daily. I think Jackson is very torn on what he wants to do. It was all-Alabama a few weeks ago, but there is an enormous amount of pressure to stay home.
We will likely see different rumors on Jackson during the course of the next week. Word to the wise- Don't believe everything you hear. Most are guessing on what he will do. Alabama has spent a lot of time and effort recruiting Jackson with hopes he will sign with the Tide next week. There is still belief Alabama has a very realistic chance to land his signature next week.
This brings up to
Denver Harris. The five-star has been on Alabama's radar for the last few years and many (myself included) have considered the Tide the team to beat in his recruitment. Harris has not visited Alabama since June. He was hoping to attend Alabama's game against Arkansas, but a road playoff game in addition to the 2:30 p.m. kickoff served as an issue with travel plans.
Alabama has remained in contact with Harris, but probably not as much as they have with Jackson or Little Jr. Jay Valai went to see Harris play after returning from ACL surgery three weeks ago. Coach Saban did not visit Harris this week. It seems like Alabama is waiting to see what happens with Jackson and Little.
Let's say Alabama misses on Jackson next week. It doesn't mean the end of the world for the Tide. Remember- Alabama signed five defensive backs in 2021 (six if you include Kadarius Calloway). Very deep year in-state next cycle (
AJ Harris,
Tony Mitchell,
Jahlil Hurley). Alabama remains high on four-star DB
Devin Moore. The former Notre Dame commitment has Alabama, Florida and LSU in his top three. He will likely wait until February to sign. Alabama might can make a move if he waits and decides to visit again.ā Bone
