The closer we are to the end of December the larger the odds are becoming for OSU to slip in to the BCSNC game. The last time I looked the Bovada has them listed at 6-1. The numbersāIE: percentage chanceāare getting better for them to be undefeated and yet are continuing to get worse...going into last weekend there was roughly a 25% chance they'd make it to the title game.
I'm sure you've seen, countless times at that, people mentioning their schedule and those same people have been quick to point out "it's not Ohio State's fault the B1G is down."
That's true. In the end it still doesn't tell the whole story.
Next season this scenario wouldn't be a big deal. The Buckeyes would be looking at a game with FSU for their title shot.
This season wouldn't have been a big deal either except for the following: Jim Delany, Gordon Gee, Graham Spanier, and Harvey Perlman.
I've seen one person point to this group of four (they weren't alone, but definitely the main voices leading the charge against) with the reminder these were the last group of decision makers that were standing staunchly against the playoff being instituted.
It's going to happen...the only question is how much air play it gets and how loudly we hear B1G members complain; "it's not fair!"
The point which needs to be mentioned, frequently, is your own administration put you in this position.
As the BCS era closes out one thing will stand true; it workedāagain.
