šŸˆ RB Derrick Henry's first interview

There sure seems to be a lot of freshmen standing in front of the press these days. Maybe I'm dreaming this, but I thought Saban had a policy on not letting them talk to the media. Not that I have a problem with it, I just don't remember so many freshmen in the past doing so.

They all get to talk one time after Signing Day (early enrolees) and then we wont get to see em again until they're Sophomore, unless we get to the National Championship.

I don't have an issue with letting them have limited talk....so long as they are mature enough to handle the press. There have been a few veteran players who I wished would not open their mouths at times and some freshman players who act like they've been groomed for years. Some handle it better than others and it all comes down to maturity level and understand how the media can and will hang off every word said. I think Saban realizes this and it's probably a good thing he limits any direct interaction to players to minimize theses chances from happening.

Basically I like what he's doing as it seems to pay off in the end. Other fan bases may blast the way Saban "muzzles" his players but I think it's for the better in the long run. We see what kind of trouble it can be if you let your players openly discuss team matters or venting emotions to the media.

I couldn't agree more with you Plano! If Derrick can pick up the blocking schemes here in the Spring, he will have fans drooling and opposing coaches having nightmares!! Alot of DCs will be out of jobs too!

Coach Saban lets them speak on signing day. I can't remember if Yeldon was interviewed after A-Day last year or not, but that will probably be the last of it.
