🏈 Quick Question

Thanks Terry I figured as much but before I inserted my foot in my mouth with the following rant I wanted to be sure. From al.com we get this article today http://blog.al.com/bamabeat/2009/10/rolando_mcclain_on_the_nfl_im.html which is headlined by Ro saying he isnt thinking about the NFL right now. Now I understand that these guys all have a job to do and there may be that one diamond in the rough question when a player spouts off something that would make good headlines but they have to know that Saban is selective about who interviews and he isnt going to allow anyone in front of the camera that is talking about anything other than the TEAM!

I guess thats why I really enjoy Saban's interviews now (didnt at first) is because the same dumb ass questions continue to be asked as if they are going to get a different answer. I guess they think that eventually he is going to snap and say "hell no we wont lose to Auburn, they suck and always will and I am going to run up the score of those SOB's this year so much that it will make FL jealous" but they just keep getting "They have a great football team and number "X" is a very dangerous player and we have a ton of respect for what coach so and so is doing with the program"

If you listen to Saban's interviews you can pull a lot of information out of them. But, the majority of those there don't seem to get it.

Same thing with the players interviews. In the summer and fall camps, you could see a lot of them speculating on who was starting where. But, if they had paid attention to who they were interviewing (players) they would have known that a long time.

If we set freshman aside for a second...

You want to know who is going to fill Mike Johnson's place? Or Drew Davis' spot at RT? Watch who is being interviewed in the fall next year before we play. You'll get your answer.

I guess my point to that is it is orchestrated and at best it takes someone (like yourself) paying close attention to what they are saying. Did anyone really expect to see Rolando saying anything else?? Do they expect Julio to say he is pissed off he isn't getting the ball more? No of course they aren't so why not take a little time formulating your questions into something that could be useful or informative.

It's interesting you mention Julio here.

I'll have to see if I can find the interview, but one of the comments Hanks made about the UK game had to do with Julio.

He said that the cornerback for UK ended up following Julio inside on the play he scored...that coverage with everyone watching Julio gave Hanks one on one coverage...result, TD Bama.

As to the NFL and Ro question...

Honestly, I don't think a lot think about things to ask before the pressers. Then again, they don't know who is going to be out for the player interviews.

Ro did make a statement that Saban and the defensive staff have a certain number set each week on how many yards they want an opposing offense to have in any game. It fluctuates, week to week.

Of course Ro added his number is always lower.

The video is here http://www.tidesports.com/section/football in the center of the page, 3rd video currently. I was only using Julio as an example and not implying anything about him. I actually think he is honestly a team player and isnt worried about himself.

There just seems to be so many "articles" that have zero substance to them and many of the interviews are just conducted poorly in the sense that they know the answers prior to asking them in most cases.
