Why do Jones and Rogers both wear #8? I noticed that watching the game the other day.

Both probably wanted the same number. (preference) Several others have the same number be it #5 Upchurch on offense and Harris on Defense.

There are several others but I can't remember them right off the top of my head.

Is there no rule against this like in the NFL? I never realized it before.

In college it is ok as long as they aren't on the field at the same time.

Barron and Maze #4 also. It can be confusing. Maybe Julio or Rogers will take #18 now that Mr. Fanuzzi has vacated his locker.

Also, don't forget, there are more than 100 players on a lot of Div I teams, so of course there will have to be some overlap.

There are rules, but the NFL doesnt have a roster of over a hundred people.

It is simply due to the number of players on teams.
When you have that many players numbers will double.

As I read someone else...as long as they aren't on the field at the same time...
