I'll pull up the thread from earlier at some point. Guys, we had to expect this. With Sims as the best we have, this will not be the last.

Now, argue all you want about his numbers, but he did those against much inferior defenses.

We saw this coming. Hopefully, Bama can be in a nice bowl this year.

^Such a prick.

Penalties & turnovers all point to the QB.

Penalties and turnovers weren't our only downfall.

Secondary was atrocious. And whether you want to admit it or not Sims played horrible. I know look at his numbers...if not for defensive drops he would've had two more interceptions.

But, Sims wasn't the worse of the bunch. Howard didn't play real well- dropped pass when he was wide open then on the interception he didn't show a whole lot of effort- 5'9 shouldn't out jump 6'6

I 100% agree with you. He looked like crap today, but he joined a whole cast of players that played like crap

Sims did what we needed him to do, the final turnover he forced it in there a bit but other than that he played a manageable game. This is like a much closer Florida game where we are Florida's defense, our secondary looked lost on a few wheel routes and bunch formation moves and we didn't respond well. Sims may not have been the most amazing QB today but he was far from the reason we lost this game.

I honestly don't believe you can pin this one on Sims, Chief. Any quarterback in the NCAA would have had a tough time with Old Miss' secondary. They played lights out. We lost because our secondary cannot defend the pass, and our unit discipline is pitiful, with too many penalties stopping drives, especially the one with one minute left in the game.

The reason we lost today is bc OM made plays and had stops when they had to make them and we didn't. For most of the day their DB had us covered even when Sims had time to throw. Sims did nothing to beat us. The OM defense is as good as advertised and it didn't hurt that Wallace had a good game. Credit Coach Freeze, his staff and players. He was very gracious and classy in his post game interview.

Yup. Nobody feels good about a loss. But, all fans should be this gracious in defeat. Not only is it true, but it shows good sportsmanship, realistic perspective, and - dare I say it? - class.

I don't think you could be dumb enough to stick the blame on Blake Sims. Last time I checked it wasn't Sims that fumbled the ball on the kickoff giving prime position. It wasn't Sims getting burnt over the middle for a touchdown. It wasn't Sims that got called for a holding call that brought back a first down at the end of the game. It wasn't Sims that let a 5'9 corner out jump and outmuscle a ball away from him that ended the game. It wasn't Blake Sims that missed two field goals. It was Blake Sims that threw an interception and had a couple of delay of game penalties. To me that sounds like a complete shitty effort on a lot of guys on our team. We are not disciplined this year, and it is costing us. So blaming it solely on Blake Sims just sounds idiotic.

Your biased as hell Chief. There are a plethora of players on this team who have been inconsistent that have lead to bad plays. Your are silent on them. But on Sims, you are biased.

Funny thing is that I am wasting my time for someone to be so biased you can be logical or consistent, forget both.

Ole Miss beat us plain and simple. We were outplayed and outsmarted. Secondary couldn't hold out, defense gave up 3rd and longs like candy, special teams missed 6 points plus some bad punts and bad coverage, offense couldn't get first downs or TDs when we needed them, etc. Alabama lost as a team.

Geez come on no way you can pin this on any one player. Football is a collective team effort on both sides of the ball. Mistakes were made. Ole Miss capitalized on them and made the few mistakes. Usually when you put two good teams up next to each other the one with the fewest mistakes will win.

Personally I thought Sims did what you could expect for his first SEC road game in his career as a starter. Wasn't horrible but wasn't great. The same can be said for many others. The biggest issue I have is the bone-headed penalties continue to be a common thing as is ball security both catching and running. That comes from discipline. We aren't playing like a disciplined team and haven't for most of the season. We got away with it playing Florida because they are pretty much a toasted team but Saban warned you can't do this against good teams and expect to win.

I think a lot changed the second Drake when down and not just him getting injured but how he was injured, hearing him scream in agony, seeing get carted off crying in pain and what that meant to the team. You can tell it affected them emotionally and I'm sure it had an effect on our play calling scheme since Drake was such a dynamic part of the plan. Then our center went down and things seemed to unravel offensively. The defense never really had an answer and looked lost at times. They have a week to correct mistakes and put this behind them. Best believe Big Bird Bielema was salivating on the set and taking notes lol.

Totally agreed on the secondary. Without Bama scoring points, which a Sims offense cannot do against real teams, there will be multiple losses this season. You made my points for me. Thanks you. Sims is the best quarterback on the Alabama team. Given. Saban wouldn't have him out there otherwise.

How many points did the offense have today? How many games can you win scoring ten?

So, pinning the loss totally on Sims? No. Reiterating that this team will have multiple losses with him as quarterback. Bingo.

McCarron started for three years, and Sims has been on campus for five. It seems as though he'd do much better than he does.

I'm guessing I missed the substitution there at the end when Coker lead us down the field with a shot to win at the end! I guess it was Coker that had us at 1st down at the 15 when OJ got called for the hold!
@TheChief answer this for me. Have you ever played the QB position? Did you play at the college level? Did you even play the game?
Everyone can sit on their damn couch or in their recliner and bash the QB! Why don't you send all of this crap toward the secondary for running around like blind mice, or the 5 lack of discipline penalties, or even OJ Howards play on the day.
People on here want to bitch about OJ not being involved more. Let's look at his day, shall we. 3 catches 81 yards 3 drops, 1 that KILLED a drive, 2 holding penalties that killed other drives, and last but not least, piss poor effort on the last pass. He has to go up and high point (catch at its highest point) the ball. 6'6" should whip 5'9" ALL DAMN DAY!!!
Did Blake play brilliant? No. Did he give us a shot to win the game? He sure as hell did! We all said on here, that Ole Miss would be the best defense we would face all season long. I'd say that Blake played pretty damn good in spite of the constant screw ups from the play of OJ and the false starts!

Did Lou Holtz play college football, @uagrad93 ? I guess he knows nothing about it then, huh. Oh, that's right, he won a national championship as a coach.

Say what you want. Members of this board scoffed when I said this team would lose two and maybe three games this season. Furthermore, carry water for Sims all you want. Alabama does not have a good quarterback on the field nor on the sidelines. Alabama will not score enough points to win some of the games it should this year.

Don't worry. The sunshine pumpers will be in today and Monday at the latest and tell everyone how it's not as bad as it seems. Listen to them. Just don't get too angry when the Tide loses again this season.

Oh, enjoy watching Sims this season. It's his last in football.
