I'm not real sure how many of you thought Alabama was going to go undefeated this year, but I bet if we polled before the season, and folks put their crimson glasses down, very few would have said the Tide would go without a loss in the regular season. I figured Alabama would lose 1 for sure, and that was before I realized just how good the West really was. A good argument could be made right now that LSU is the worst team in the division... that's how good/scary the West is.

Now, obviously, if Bama can limit things to just 1 loss (which would still be a tall order), losing to Ole Miss now is the best case scenario in terms of the Playoff picture. The good news is, the remaining road games are with the lesser (lesser being relative here) teams (Arkansas and LSU). We get A&M, MSU, and auburn at home, which will help (not counting Tennessee on the road).

The bad news is, we've lost our most versatile offensive player for the season, in "The Drake" (God bless the kid), and looks like our starting center is out for possibly a couple weeks. On the field, our special teams continue to ruin the bed sheets in a myriad of different ways. And in the mental errors department, we continue to blow off toe after toe with silly penalties that kill drives in or near the red zone (putting our kicker in bad situations, though he should be hitting some of those kicks). On defense, we are seeing breakdowns in coverage that we aren't used to seeing. All that type of stuff is correctable... but it's time now to start seeing it get corrected, not linger or worsen...

Bottom line is, Alabama still has everything on the table. Nothing has really changed. Teams have adjusted to us in some ways though, so things are not as easy as they were 4 years ago. We will get dogfights in just about every game, including next week. There is a reason ranked teams rush the field when they beat us. That doesn't happen consistently with any other team. Our logo might as well be a bullseye, but then again, it's been that way since not long after our team took a train to Pasadena to make Washington's ass quit.

The more things change, the more things stay the same...

I didn't expect this team to get through the season undefeated. Yet, I still believe there isn't a team on the schedule we can't (couldn't) win against.

One thing you couldn't be more correct on, Brandon: everything is still on the table. That's bolstered a lot with close to half of the top 20 taking a loss this weekend.

Que Sera, Sera.

(For such a highly anticipated weekend of football, I don't know if there's been an uglier weekend of football across the board.)

I'd voice my opinion as to where I think we're headed in the W / L department, as I did in early September, but I don't wish to again be heckled with an animated gif supporting the notion that I must be "retarded". :what: :notall:
I will say this.... as things look at this point, I'm sure am not looking forward to that other Mississippi team, much less the Barn after their insane 41 - 7 spanking of LSU. And then there are a few "it could go either way" games on the schedule too.

I'm praying - every night in fact - that socks will get pulled up and the boys will prove me wrong . :-)

Having time to sleep on it... It just seems this team was out of it mentally. So when they played a team who was sharp & physical, they couldn't overcome it.

I think CNS has a lot of work to do if he wants to salvage this team. I cannot think of a single position coach that did a great job preparing their players for yesterday. Just average or terrible. Ehh, maybe D-line. I'd love & hate to be at the coaches meeting last night or today.

Well, you hit me pretty hard last night, Sliver, with a couple of your comments, but I believe, like TerryP, that we could/should beat every team on our schedule, we have the talent but most of it is young and still learning. Any team can't lose juniors and some seniors every year like we have and successfully maintain dominance. We do have the best coach in college football but he doesn't trot onto the field and play. So we lost a game! life is all about ups and downs and as I stated last night a measure of a man or team is not what they do when they are winning but how they handle the losing. It hurts, like losing your first love, but all of us are in this relationship for the long run. I know I am. I have loved Alabama football as long as I can remember and will continue too. Also, here on RTB we have the best support system in the world because one can always come here and vent. No I'm not drinking, but, I love you guys.

I hear ya.
Although I disagree about the comparison to losing a first love in terms of "hurt". :what: I don't know about your first love, but mine 34 years ago was a Palestinian girl and she was smokin' hot!! ;) Now that good-bye was painful. :( In contrast, losing a game on a last second interception is pretty tepid comparison the pain department.
