Assuming we win next week, our #1 seed is perfectly justified.
Also, assuming Clemson beats VaTech, they would have 12 wins and a conference championship and they should be one of the four. Their only loss would be to a top 25 team in Pitt. They would have quality wins over FSU, Louisville, Virginia Tech and maybe Auburn.
If Washington beats Colorado, they would also have 12 wins and a conference championship and they should be one of the four. Their only loss came at the hands of #20 USC (who is trending up these days). They would have quality wins over Colorado and Stanford.
Washington and Clemson would be the ONLY schools with 12 wins. And they would be conference champs. That should automatically get them in.
Now then, it seems that in the media, it is a foregone conclusion that Ohio State is in with their 11-1 record. However, if Penn State beats Wisconsin, they will also have 11 wins AND they will have a conference championship, AND they already beat Ohio State head to head. Their losses were to Pitt and Michigan - both ranked away games. Why wouldn't Penn State go along with Clemson and Washington instead of Ohio State?
Maybe my disgust for Ohio State shines through, but a conference champion with just as many wins AND a win over them directly should count for something.
