Spot on Terry! I mention this the other day Alabama needs to blow Ole Piss out! nothing more nothing less! and it goes exactly to the polls. They the voters have become enamored with other teams such as USC I don't no why Pac 1 joke of a conf.? love fest!

Tejas stole our thunder as well with a win over Oklahoma who quite frankly hadn't played anyone until sat. Penn. State who blew out a vastly overrated Whisky team!

And yes most importantly it will kill them if Bama wins it all! JMHO!!!! RTR!!

Texas has a murderous three game stretch coming up: Missouri, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech. If they run that table they will be a worthy number one.

I feel that the Viles probably "shot their wad" against Ga. I think we go in focused and prepared for Sat and come out with a hard fought win. The next week we go to Tenn and "spank that azz" real good. :D

I feel its critical that we play strong on the home field....So far, I feel more comfortable with away games :? Kind of happy the LSU game is away...as screwed up as it sounds.... :? IMO it would be a good time to dominate another team on the home turf and set the tone for the second half of the season...

Thanks for responding everyone. It is nice to have access to a board such as this one where fans can discuss things without insults.

I see the point of view of many of you and it makes sense.

Yup, I'm with the group. Our home games haven't been as impressive as our away games :? . I see what Altie is saying in his post and can relate to it. We need to come out and win BIG to help drive the point home so to speak. Hope we come out swinging and don't look back!

I agree with Altie. This Shula mentality took over when Fran left and it is disturbing(see November of last year). We play flat for no apparent reason what so ever. This mis-firing crap especially at home has got to stop! Ole Miss this weekend will be a huge testament that we have indeed broke the rusty chains. On paper we wipe the field with the Reb's but can any of us actually say that we will with confidence? I'll be at this game this weekend. My first game and I'm hoping to sing Rammer Jammer!

DOG PILE!
You are 99% spot one dude.

In the case of a lackluster win all will be forgotten with an impressive win in Knoxville next week, or a win in Baton Rouge, or a thumping of Auburn. Win out, and this game is just one of 13, paling to the Orange Bowl, the SEC Championship game, the Georgia win, the LSU win, the Auburn win, the Clemson win, and arguable the Mississippi State win (due to that streak). Other than being the 8th biggest win, you are right, its huge.

I view every game we play as a statement game. A statement in the sense that we should expect to win every game. If we lose one game then that hurts our record.

But, I do agree that we need to start playing in Bryant Denny like we have the two times this year we have played in Georgia.

Since the Alabama Kool-Aid started getting passed around, I've been looking week to week waiting for this team to make a major statement. I know Clemson and Georgia were statement wins. But in the recent past we have seen big wins that end up not pointless later in the season.

So after the Clemson blowout, we have a lackluster performance against Tulane. Is Bama for real?

Next week, we come out and handle WKU accordingly and I think we're back on track. The Arkansas win was a big one at the time, come to find out, Arkansas is not that good. But better than the Barn  . Is Bama for real?

The UGA game was huge, but I still can't get that second half out of the back of my head. Is Bama for real?

Then the tight game against Kentucky. Which wasn't that close if you watched the game, but scary enough for you to question if the team is ready to make a run at the NC.

Week after week, I am looking to the next game to see how good this team really is. And this week won't be any different. Many other factors are coming into play like the bye week, poor performances at home, and the beginning of the SEC stretch on the calender. So I agree with Altie, completely. This is our chance to make a statement, IMO and show if we are really contenders, or pretenders. RTR!!

As far as I'm concerned...that's the highlight of this whole thread. Man those Sun Devil girls...

Thanks everyone. I knew some of you may agree with me.

The rest of 'Bama's season hinges on this one game moreso than any other this season. The results of this game will determine once and for all if 'Bama can take that last step and really do it right this year.

After this game, I have no worries about LSU or Tennessee or Auburn. Why? Because 'Bama plays up for big games better than any team in the nation.

This game is the real test.

Ill remind all of you after this week of this thread

This game along with UK,Tulane,WKy,Ark St,Ark,ect.. will be forgotten unless we Lose!

The LSUs UGAs Aubs Tenns are the big games

This is a good thread. I think the Ole Miss game is vitally important as well. It's been a game I've had circled all year mainly because of the Nutt. That man has had incredible luck over us the past few years at Arky. I was seriously disappointed to see him stay in the conference, and especially 150 miles west.

But beyond Ole Miss, every game is a huge game now. It doesn't matter if it's Ole Miss, lowly Arkansas State, struggling Tennessee, talented but erratic LSU, or even those devils from Starkville that have given JPW fits the past couple years. And let's not count those inbreds from Allbarn either. They may have been written off by some, but we haven't beaten them ON THE FIELD since 2001, under one Dennis Franchione. That's been one long NCAA suspension and 2 head coaches ago.....Another era if you will. To me, Bama's not "back" until they beat Auburn, and for good measure, LSU. Those two teams have owned this division since our demise, and they have to be smacked. They need to both be beaten down, and if Bama can do that, then I don't have any, ANY reservations that the Alabama Crimson Tide will be the best team in college football.

How nice does that sound? RTR

In some ways this is the same song but a different verse. The way I feel about this game is the way I normally feel about Arkansas. This year I knew Arkie would be a blowout - even called the score...but this game scares me.

I made my 38-17 prediction based upon match-ups and position break downs, up against numbers with the competition played - and the competition they played...for example, when I look at rushing yardage and passing yards given up by Ole Miss, I look at who they played and then look at how those teams did against their other opponents. Then I look at overall defensive stats of those opponents and compare to the productivity that Ole Miss had. In the end, I find Alabama to be 3 TD's better than Ole Miss, but if we play poorly that could change. By the same token, if Ole Miss plays poorly, we could lay 50 on them.

I think we will shut down their running game with relative ease. The passing game concerns me, but I think our nickel will be effective at controlling the short passing game. I don't think that they can throw it deep on us with consistency, but I do think they will burn us once...I just hope it is late and not early. I think Nutt will try a deep ball very early and our safeties had better maintain position. The game could go south if we get burned early.

Assuming that we do not get burned early and we play like we should, I think we win comfortably. We will run with relative ease, and when they stack the box Wilson will eat them alive. The spread has trouble running against speed and Florida was not able to run against them consistently. The same for the misdirection of Wake...and turnovers kept the rebels in the UF game. Both of those teams were able to move the ball effectively through the air, but the power running was not there to get the money.

The bottom line is, we will force Ole Miss to throw. How we contain their passing game will determine the outcome.

A sobering stat for Ole Miss fans - they have not controlled time of possession in any game this year - including Samford. Alabama will own the ball. Mississippi has a fast defense, but nobody has run the ball straight at them. We will, and we will do it successfully. The closest thing to a power running game they have faced was Memphis - who had 188 yards on the ground. That does not bode well for the Rebels.

Their safeties are their #1 and #2 tacklers on the team. Both of them are undersized. In the open field I would put my money on Ingram and Coffee.

Across the board, their secondary is undersized. Alexander, Jones, and Walker are 6" to 7" taller than any Ole Miss corner or safety who will see the field Saturday, and 20-40 pounds heavier. That is a physical mismatch if there ever was one.

We will score on their defense, and control the ball. We just have to control the big plays and not make mental errors...if we do those things, we can embarrass them.

Not that it means anything...

One thing just jumped out to me.

Big_Fan came out with his prediction Tuesday with 38-17.

I put mine in Monday morning at 38-21.

The Harmon Forecast came out yesterday and he's got Bama, 38-20.

Back when CGS was our coach, he was doing his post game show, and the subject of the next game came up. Stallings said that Chattanooga was up next, and it was a big game because it was the next game. One of the reporters made light of this. Stallings said "If you don't think its a big game, just imagine what would happen if we lost it. Who remembers much about last season's West Carolina game. All of us have a bad memory of the La. Monroe game. Great point Lenny.

uh ok :?

Actually I agree with Ctrl here. This is a game we could come out sluggish on. If we come out and OWN them it makes the statement that ALL games are important. Not just big name games.

Outlaw says 31-21.

Mark it down.

In other news, Outlaw is talking in third person now.
