Very cool! They had a red phone booth on one of the train lines north of Chicago when we went up there years ago.
Watched The Post earlier, the lead character from Better Call Saul was using a payphone which is what triggered this post. Was telling my 17 year old what payphones were, I didn't even bring up beepers.
I had my first cell phone in 94 or 95, the original Motorola flip phone. I've always been an early adopter, probably one of the few enlisted guys on NAS North Island who had one. The looks I used to get when I would use it, I swear people thought I was dealing.
