🏈 Phelon Jones

I suspect he'll end up as one of our starting cornerbacks next season. He's had a year in the system and already has some playing time under his belt from his time in Baton Rouge.

WOW. I'm guessing you think DK is on the other side? I know a few LSU fans and I would love for Phelon to turn out to be a baller.

Very well may. Spring will tell us a lot...but, my early guess is seeing this...

Phelon replaces Javy.
Dre replaces Kareem.
BJ comes in for our nickel formations.

And of course we'll see Barron and Robby in our safety positions.

Terry, that would be a scary secondary with Fulton and Milliner coming off the bench to provide a breather.

No kidding.

It's a combination that has the top talent in the nation (coming out of high school) combined with arguably the two best secondary coaches in the nation—Saban and Smart.

I see rivals laughing about Saban's statement, "...this is only the beginning." They need to take their collective heads out of the sand and look. It's as easy to see as the nose on Barb Streisands face.

Yep! That nose is pretty easy to see!! Thing is Terry, the LSU faithful know that he is speaking the truth. They know first hand about stockpiling talent and then even have a moron benefit from it.

Now this really is a little off topic, and I may have missed it. But why exactly did Phelon leave LSU?
And does he have 1 or 2 years to play?

He redshirted in 2007 and played in nine of the twelve games LSU had in 2008. So, he's got two years if I recall this correctly.

To the best of my knowledge...and I might remember this wrong as well...he had a death in his immediate family and wanted to move back home. That always sort of threw me for a look b/c Tuscaloosa isn't closer to his hometown than Baton Rouge.

It's really a strange story. His father wasn't very complimentary of Saban when Phelon was being recruited...but, seems to have had a change of heart. Seeing LSU at 8-8 over the last two seasons and seeing Bama at 16-0 in conference play...you be the judge of the decision.

That actually seems like a smart decision, considering the future for LSU. I live right outside New Orleans, so lots of LSU fans about. Never seen them this down about football lately. They want Miles' Head I'm telling you. I remember fans cheering at work after LSU lost to Penn State, just so Miles doesnt extend his stay. I was like "You will never see me cheer against BAMA even if I did hate our coach."
But it is kinda funny to watch this meltdown from within.

I can imagine.

Some still can't let the Saban thing go...I found this to be an interesting thread I could help but jumping in on...

JohnLSU fails to mention the condition of both programs when Saban took reigns. And also the condition is which Miles received the program.

LSU 1990's (54-58-1 ) .482
3 bowl appearances in the decade. 2 Independence Bowls, and Peach.
They havent been left out of a bowl from 2000-present
Some LSU fans are so ungrateful.

Bama with all the probation and coaching carousel. Bringing this program back to what it is now was no walk in the park.
