Do you remember?

I'm 25. I was only in the first grade when Alabama beat Miami in the 92 Sugar Bowl. Ever sense that day I have seen Alabama go through a roller coaster of seasons. I remember some really really bad years, and some rather good years, but never "THE" year. I remember 1999, when we were pass away from playing for the National Championship. Becuase if we had beated La Tech that year we would have been in it. I remember the following year starting out ranked 3rd in the nation. I remember Freddie Millions returning the first punt for 6, and then the season going downhill from that moment forward. We then had the dubose fall out and then the Fran days. Fran got us to believe we were headed in the right direction, but greed consumed him and he let go of his rope. Mike Shula had 2005 and only 2005. For my generation we have seen probation after probation. We've seen Auburn run 6 on us. We've seen Tennessee run a ton of us. We've even seen them win a national championship. 1992 was a very long time ago. Do you still remember how it felt back then? I don't, but I can tell you it felt alot like now.

It has taken 2 years and Nick Saban has given Alabama its swagger back. Alabama once again has this aura around it. A reporter from the 20's once said "'Hold your horses, the elephants are coming,' and out stamped this Alabama varsity" We once again resemble a herd of Elephants. Our offense is error free. Our running attack is one of the nations best. Our passing game has an arsonal of weapons. Our QB is most comfortable throwing the "Long ball" We have the best return man in college football in Javier Arenas. And our Defense is the best that I've ever seen us have. I do think they are better then the 92 defense, and every game they play proves and will continue the prove that point. We are a very scary team to play for any opponent. I mean they know whats coming and still they cannot prepare enough to stop us.

This is the best Alabama football team we have had in the last 25 years and this is looking like it might actully be "THE" year. So bring on the Gamecocks, the Vols, and the Tigers. Bring on Tebow and the mighty Florida Gators. OUR TIME IS NOW! Get excited people. Get pumped. 2009 is the year of the Tide! And Remember the Rose Bowl, will win then!

I've thought the same and said so. This is our best team since 1994.

That is a wonderful post man. I really enjoyed reading it.

The only difference between now and then for me, is that the decades of heartbreak and let down have somewhat tempered my belief. I am still in shock to how far we have come in such a small time.

Thanks again for posting that. Awesome stuff!

Spec, I don't think I got to read this the first time around...but I'm seriously glad you bumped it up so I could get an opportunity. Absolutely wonderful stuff. Your write up has gotten me so pumped I could probably run out to the highway and stiff arm a car moving at 65 mph.

I, like you, was born in the generation right before the '92 Sugar Bowl. 1986 to be exact. My entire life I've heard stories of past legends and past glory. I heard all the stories of Bear, Namath, Stabler, Lee Roy, and many others. I can say that it's an honor and priviledge to be a fan of this rejuvinated Crimson Tide and it's great to be able to witness a new chapter of glory. Roll Tide my crimson brethren!!!
