I think that buyout and the stupid 8 win clause they put in his contract has the Vols over a barrell. Much as they'd like to make a change, barring something truly bizarre, Fatimus will be back.

Agreed.......seems like they would have learned something from Auburn...I think that is a marriage that both sides wouldn't mind seeing end. (see last years duck hunting trips to Arkansas) Neither side is willing to give up on the idea of a payout to the other. Looks like UT and Phil are in the same boat.

I believe the 8 win clause has to do with extending his contract and subsequent raises year to year. So, what bearing that has on him keeping his job or leaving I don't see.

FWIW, when I looked over the contracts a few weeks ago my nearest guess was around 9 million including all of the Asst. Coaching staff. They would be hit a little hard in the first few years, but the rest of it I'm thinking was spread out over the remainder of his contract.
