🏈 When it comes to recruiting and TEAM star rankings I guess we'll have to take a composite versus composite average ... or just make our own up.

On3 has rankings of their own. They are also currently affiliated with 247Sports. They also have On3 Industry rankings which include the player rankings from ESPN and Rivals. It's an average; of sorts. On3 has their own formula for how much they weigh 247, On3, ESPN, and Rivals into their rankings.

In the same vein 247 has its own and has a composite as well (with another unpublished formula on which site gets what percentage/grade.)

So, we have two averages we can get an average from ...

Oh, but wait. On3 has Rivals now. Who had their percentage changed?

A few weeks ago I said Bama was about to get five, five star guys and the race was on. Or, is it still? It depends on the site. On3 says only four, five stars. What's crazy is while the roles have changed (Rivals notoriously underrating players) it's the same two entities "fighting" each other in the averages: On3 and Rivals.

And now? On3 swalling ...

So, if Bama gets a verbal from another five that means I was wrong. They got six. Or was I right on five...I can be right today, they get another, and I'm wrong...

Oh well...last I looked closest teams had two (I wonder if it's really three, or closer to one?)

That is the lowest number we've seen in several years at this time; at this time with more teams in the SEC.

I'll had to contemplate this for a minute ... (as I don my geek glasses) "Is this distortion in the continuum a direct result of the portal?"

One reason for the decline is getting called out by Lane Kiffin on social media for his great golf game.

I have to imagine the Little 10's season last year is putting a bit of a dent in the SEC recruiting. As long as it doesn't affect Bama...

It's funny you mention Lane because he's one of the reasons the SEC is down in the rankings. His focus has been on building with the portal, pulling in high school for a slower developing foundation. Others are still just using the portal for plug and play. His, and others, focus on the portal to build their teams don't translate to overall team rankings.

Teams getting ranked on recruiting classes where the players in those classes aren't being ranked comparatively / evenly.
