I think the last time Clemson beat a ranked OOC opponent in their season opener was against Auburn (about the middle of the Gus era.) On the road win...

Every year, I keep thinking Kelly will correct previous mistakes and issues and come out and play well for 4 quarters in the opener, not just 2. But he's 0-4 in the last 4 seasons now (0-5 if you count the SEC only Covid year). Sooner or later (if he's there long enough) he will win an opener by default. But despite their own issues with openers, with what Clemson has coming back, them being at home... give me the Fightin' Dabos.

Winner of this game should get exclusive rights to "Death Valley" and half the band songs they copy from each other. Maybe if Clemson wins Dabo will turn heel and lead the team in Neck in the locker room after the game.

Thanks. I was headed to bring this up as well.

It's wild how this could set itself up. A loss in their opener and then they're staring 2021 in the face without a .500 State team up next they can pull out an early win. UF at home might, might, give them that.

After the way Clemson got that ass handed to them against Texas in the playoffs last season....do they REALLY have room to talk? : :ROFLMAO:
@Brandon Van de Graaff this is one of those things I was weighing yesterday.

When Clemson lost to TX they couldn't run the ball. They did pretty well passing the ball.

Last season LSU wasn't as good as they have been stopping the run. Two games where they were gave up in the mid-200's (SEC) and then there's Bama (let's leave that one out.)

So, if LSU can stop the running game? I can't say I trust the Clemson WR group against LSU's DB's. If history holds, it's a wash.

You probably hear it a ton in Charleston, but them IPTAY folk think their receiver group is the best in the country and going to win them a Natty this year.
