What happened to our offense line? Why haven't they been able to open big holes for Ingram and Richardson with consistency? And why have they had such a hard time avoiding QB sacks?

In my opinion it comes down to four words: Mike Johnson is gone.

I think loosing Mike Johnson was a huge loss, his leadership was out of this world on that line. He kept them together when the going got tough. I think his leadership and calm influence is missed just as much as his talents. Also teams see that we are extremly reluctant (in my eyes) to throw the ball downfield with consistency. They sit on the screen and blow up the middle of our line or they stunt with a trailing linebacker knowing G-Mac will sit there afraid (in my eyes again) to make a big throw. I think we have a solid o-line that can manhandle teams, which we have at times, but for whatever reason they are put into situations that we are not tooled to be in. Power running and pistol/shotgun passing with the mixed in play action. Our guards seem to be more of the run blocking, stay in their pocket pass blocking instead of pulling out on screens. Just my 2 cents from a former d-2 o-lineman. Yeah I dropped I played d-2, I'm a total bad a$$!!! :lift:
